The anti-OCZ sentiment was a dead horse months ago. Every purchase is a value proposition where you have to weigh the pros and cons. OCZ made some missteps as a company, and Sandforce have as well. If the combination of OCZ + SF has resulted in a personal boycott decision for certain people, then that's fine. Boycott them. Hell, I boycott Walmart. But I don't plaster forums or deal sites or get-togethers with my friends with my personal decision in that regard.

In short, overly vocal anti-company posts are just as annoying as any fanboi. Give it a rest.

No this is actually factual. groberts101 claimed some things about SSDs (that they expect you to know more about SSDs than they do, the experts) which are beyond unacceptable. If what he's saying is true, that they do not QA their drives to a degree they have that many issues, then it's the duty of the forum to let anyone inquiring about the truth about SSDs to know.

So let me get this straight, OCZ and the rest of the industry trash expects the end-USER to be more knowledgeable about SSDs than they are?
Wow, just wow. I did not know that, but the memory and storage forum, as well as Anand needs to broadcast this as loudly as possible.

While Intel does research, quality assurance and makes sure your hard earned money doesn't turn into frustration??
Chalk another one up for Intel.

Do Samsung and Crucial also give 2 shits about their product like Intel? If so, that would explain why there are so many happy customers out there.

sheesh.. I generalize and it's misconstrued and twisted to mean whatever he thinks or wants it to mean. Then I'm asked to get specific and I get itemized and bullet-pointed responses plus even further misconstruement of those meanings added on top of it.So go ahead and piss and moan all you want because you got "burnt with 2 bad OCZ" drives but last I checked?.. you were never elected to be the forum "brand advocate" for SSD's around here. Agenda's here are fairly obvious and I'm simply tired fo the thread crapping ping-pong match by now. You wanna constantly use me to vent your lifes frustrations and make it personal?.. fine. I can go there if need be. But I'll pull your ass down with me when the mod's show up.You act as if OCZ killed your entire family for christ's sake. Get over it already and move on with your life as most anyone else over the age of 12 years of age would do. Other than that?.. you're not even worth my time to respond to this drama crap and constant FUD posts around here anymore. Movin' on.

You replied to everything that was not said, but did not defend your point that non-Intel/Samsung/Crucial drives require the user to know more than the SSD manufacturer.

At first you were bragging that you were so smart that you could figure out what Sandforce vendors could not. Obviously that is a very bad statement to be made, and as a self-proclaimed SSD expert, I believe you meant it.
Now you're crying that you said it, claiming it's personal. Trust me, it's not.
Nice bubble.

I'm just going to leave this here
I too agree with that philosophy, especially when dealing with Sandforce controlled drives. Moreso on the first gen SF than the latest 6G controller, but still.

And yeah.. the one's who have deeper understanding of all the 6 series platform/driver issues with various SSD controllers do actually understand that. Unfortunately, the one's who often point fingers or play the fanboy card usually don't have a clue that Intel(and some others) have had to do that within the firmware of their controllers just to work around the mess that they themselves created. Kinda "funny", is right.

Doesn't have to be right or wrong.. but actually there are plenty of "reasons why". Some can be fixed and worked around if you have the patience and knowledge required though. Most who have ongoing issues have neither.
I have never known anybody in the mainstream storage market that operates in this fashion, that is until OCZ/Sandforce came along.

Only if OCZ encased their SSD's in translucent housing might they regain my trust as a consumer. Otherwise, there are plenty other fish in the SSD sea.

holy crap thread! just like the first SF controller... the newer one got itself fixed over time with firmware. NEVER be an early adopter for a new SF controller if you don't want to be one of their beta testers! look at the OCZ Octane. even with the first firmware, it's a great all around drive.

LOL.. come on in boys and girls to yet another OCZ bash-fest.Personally I'm done debating with folks who have no more knowledge of the things they want to debate about than a p'd off teenage girl who just wants to argure for the sake of hormones. If it were just a matter of.. "what you don't know won't hurt you"?.. I wouldn't have wasted my breath to respond to half the posts here. But since the OP of this thread has run into an issue that.. CAN.. and has been repeatedly resolved for others.. I actually took the time to explain things more for his sake since apparently.. "what some don't know.. CAN hurt him". Bad advice seems to run in packs around this joint sometimes and in the end it's a waste of everyones time. When you boil it right down here?.. FUD has no place in support based threads like these and guys who blatently step in only to thread crap should be checked more severely for such ignorance. Just try to help.. make your obligatory.. give it up and switch brands" suggestions and let him make the choice without ramming it down his throat constantly. In the end he'll obviously do what he needs to do based on HIS needs.. not yours. Last post I'll make in response to the OP original issue. YOU would be far better served to go to the mfgrs support site since they are well aware of the potential pitfalls/workarounds for these issues. I'll leave you with this recommendation as it has helped many others before you. Good luck.. and sorry for all the bull**** from my end. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/177819-ahci-link-power-management-enable-hipm-dipm.html

To bad that no one attempted to address the question here which is not if OCZ drives are any good or not! Compatibility is certainly a consideration here but I have seen many installs when using multiple drives result in BSOD because the programs themselves cannot deal with a multi drive setup. Most users especially gamers only have 1 drive (C) to install to. jsbailey, you might try this, mount the second SSD into a folder on the primary drive (C) and then install your games to that folder. You can call it your games folder or any name you like. This way the game/program installer will think that the install is going entirely on the C drive when in fact the install will occur on the second drive. This has worked for me in the past when dealing with multi drive BSOD on both SSD and HDD.
