I put a camera in my garage so I could see what my dogs do all day when I'm at work.

http://rhysriley.dyndns.org:80

Don't all connect at once though, I've got a pretty shitting internet connection, so if more than 2 people are connected it will probably just lag out.

Temporary username and password are both "atot"

It might ask you to enter it a few times...

If it lags out too bad I'll probably disable you guys.

edit: At the request of ATOT, I have composed a detailed schedule of my life:

weekdays
7am-8am (getting ready for work): Dogs play in fenced in yard
8am-5pm (at work): Dogs in kennel
5pm-7pm (making/eating dinner/play with dogs outside): Dogs in kennel/yard (There is a dog door between them)
7pm-11pm (relaxing): Dogs in house
11pm-7am (sleeping): Dogs in kennel

weekends:
8am-11am: Dogs in crates to build up work drive for training
11am-3pm: Outdoor S&R and protection training
3pm-6pm: Kennel
6pm-11pm: Inside
11pm-8am: Kennel

if i was a burglar, I would use this to monitor if you are home or not

How would you know if i'm home or not. My dogs spend about 20 hours a day out there. The only time I bring them inside is if I'm watching TV in the evening.

I'm also only planning on leaving the atot account up for like a half hour since it wrecks my internet connection.

It's set to a maximum of 3 users, and I am one of them, so only two people can connect at a time. That should keep it from lagging too bad.

why do you have a crate inside the fenced in area? seems like you could remove that and have more room for the dog to move around...

oh, and your dog is boring, he's just laying there...

I just put the crate in there yesterday. The green thing there is a 3x5 area where they can go to the bathroom that is connected to a drain. They were using it too much for playing, so I put the crate there to block all but about 2 feet for them to access the area. I don't want them playing on it because then they end up getting dog shit everywhere. I'm gonna put a piece of plexiglass or something there this weekend and take the crate out.

There are two dogs in there... the other one must be laying in the back corner out of the camera frame.

If you have a way to do frame-limiting that will conserve bandwidth. An update every 5 seconds saves a ton of bandwidth over live. I think standard surveilance is 15-30secs per update, but that may have changed now with giga and terabit networks.

What's the deal with confining them to this limited area? I really don't get them shitting in there. When my dog was crated he'd wait til I got home. I used to not make that a full 8 hours hardly ever.

Now he is free-roam. He mostly just sleeps in one spot until I get home though.

Your dogs look bored. Both are just pacing back and forth in the cage. Why are they caged up 20 out of 24 hours?

I'm not sure where the other one went. She must be laying in the back corner out of the camera frame.

I see them both now, one is sleeping the crate, the other one wants to get in, but there is no room.

LOL, sometimes it lags, makes it look like you have 4 or 6 dogs in there.

Why do you have dogs if you never spend time with them?

That sounds a little cruel. Why do you even have dogs?

Our 2 dogs are stuck in a room only when we are not home. Otherwise, they are with us around the house. Right now, they are hanging out with me as I check my morning e-mail and message boards.

Wondering the same here. Most of my neighbors leave their dogs outside all day and all night, and the only interaction the dogs get is when they get fed.

So I never understood the point of owning a dog if you can't spend the time with them. But then again, I have possibly the two most spoiled dogs in the world.

Cool. I have two webcams set-up at home to watch my dogs. One likes to sleep on my bed upstairs and the other one burrows under a blanket on the sofa downstairs.

Normally, I use Teamviewer to access the laptops and just use the webcam software(in view mode only, not recording) to watch them and save bandwidth.

However, I also use ustream.tv to stream them online in a private broadcast that I share with friends who's dogs may be spending the day at the house.
