added a new machine to my network of 5 machines and now its noticibly slower? Why?

added a machine 1.5 mhz with 512 Win 2000 to my network and for sum reason all of the machines on the network are much slower to my access server ... I copied files to and from the server on each machine and they all seem to copy files at the same 35 secs for a 250 mb file ....


I am stumped ... Any thoughts on troubleshooting

I'm having some difficulty figuring out exactly what you're asking. Can you state it a bit more clearly? What is the problem?

7mb/sec seems pretty typical for a peer-to-peer 100mbit connection, what are you expecting?

If you have a decent switch and good cards you should be able to hit 10 meg/s

You're right, but I've seen 7-8 on many small networks, and I don't bother spending the client's money trying to squeeze the last mb/sec out of it. In 99.9% of the cases, it's not significant.
