Addtronics 7890A or 7896A?

Which is the more popular case? Is the 7896A an updated version of the 7890A? I read that the 7896A has 2 more internal 3.5" bays than the 7890A. Is that the only difference?

7890 has 7 external 5 1/4 bays, and cages for two 8cm fans lower front of case.

I've never seen a 7896, just pictures, but I prefer my 7890.

the 90a is gone, replaced with the 96a.

both are still around. The 7896a offers better cooling options. Talk to Jim Hanson (jfh) for more info.

I also vote for the 7890A. It has more useful drive bays than the 7896A. The 7896A has an extra intake fan which offers little benefit for case cooling. The 7890A is more widely available and can be purchase as SuperMicro 750A too. Therefore, you can get it very inexpensively.

I purchased the 7890A for $100 shipped ($120 now) and an Enermax 450W dual fan Power supply for $95 ($75 now). It is the best under $200 case in terms of power, cooling, low noise and case quality.

If you are not locked onto the Addtronics/Enermax, the SuperMicro 760A can be found on the net for less than the total of the above. Just make sure that they are using the SuperMicro power supply, not a generic substitute. It has a unique power supply.
