Please explain your opinion below of what software is better. My brother bought me Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium for my birthday but I hear WordPress is good also (And it's free). I'm just a beginner and am retired but would love to build an awesome Website. Any help at all sure would be appreciated.

Thank you,

What do you want to do with your website?

You already own CS6, right, so not much point in not using it, unless it's returnable for cash or something, right?

Edit: I should mention there are many ways you could use CS6 even if you host your site on Wordpress' servers. (Or even some other site that uses Wordpress software.)

Depends on his website programming skills too
Making an awesome website means being very good at a lot of stuff
It is not just Design, but Functionality and Unique idea are the fundamentals that make a website awesome.
I personally think that the question is really dump, since it is clear you have no clue on programming languages.
Even you are a beginner, you might need 3 years before making a SUPERB website and still is not enough.
I know a lot of people who have 9 years and cannot create one to earn enough money for a living.

It would be wiser to ask: Wordpress vs Joomla vs Drupal since they all are CMS
If you want to earn money, it will be a waste of time.
You will need a lot of luck and work, but that is 1 in a million people

Websites like Facebook, don't even use anything like CS6. That just makes things a bit worse.
(Depends though)

they aren't even the same thing, the adobe suite is a graphical and development tool that help you make your wordpress site or whatever, wordpress is just another blogging platform (that has over time turned into an almost fullblown cms).

to put in layman's terms, wordpress is the kitcar, CS 6 is the toolbox.

Just pick one and go.... do it now.... enjoy your efforts.....

You are doing this for your own enjoyment, don't worry about the results just yet.
The beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Good luck.................

learn drupal, its one of the best and easiest ways to work around with a website (sure it has its limitations, but its one of the best CMS out there).

Totally different things. Wordpress is a backend and template driven service, while adobe suite is used to create assets for web sites. Dream weaver can be used to build websites and manage the distribution of the assets, scripts, and HTML docs to a web server. Wordpress will give you faster results, but is limited in scope in the long run. If you are just starting, use Wordpress to create a blog/website and practice with the adobe suite to create images for the site.

Once you ease your way into Wordpress, you would have learned basic design, layout, and have some HTML/CSS under your belt. Then I'd recommend working with open source CSS/JavaScript templates such as bootstrap. Build a site using that and eventually move to designing or modifying that to suit your needs. In a year or so you may be able to get into the backend yourself with php, python, or ruby.

At that point you will need to be familiar with networking and hardware to properly build a dynamic site.

Completely different things.

Adobe CS6 = software to create images, posters, PDFs, etc.

WordPress = open source content management system that can create websites rapidly.

WordPress = blank piece of paper
Adobe CS6 = brushes and paint to turn that blank piece of paper into something (maybe even something pretty)
