They are also looking at GPU acceleration for large image work.
I would be happy if I could just install photoshop on future versions.
I don't want the other adobe crap like stock photos, bonjour, etc.

Adobe is yearly with the suite releases, believe it or not CS3 came out mid 07 so this is about on time for them. 64 Bit only is interesting, I'm not too bright so I'm going to assume by 64 bit they mean CPU and not CPU + OS? Not that I could afford CS4 anywho so it doesn't matter to me

So far beta versions of three CS4 programs are available: Dreamweaver, Soundbooth and Fireworks. If you have CS3 (I'm not sure if owning any CS3 program is OK), you can use these till 30 days after the final versions are released. If not, I think they only work for 2 days. Downloads are at http://labs.adobe.com

I'm curious about this. I'm using Dreamweaver 8 and had thought to possibly upgrade to CS3. I'm inferring from your statement that CS3 is not very good? Why is that? Have there been particular issues with CS3 programs?

no I believe they were saying if you own Dreamweaver CS3 you can download the DW CS4 beta. But probably not a CS4 product you don't own the CS3 version of. CS3 is great I picked up a copy off Ebay for pretty cheap. I love DW & PS. Maybe in 8 months after it's out I can find another sick deal on Ebay

I just downloaded the Dreamweaver CS4 beta, they added live rendering so you get a real time preview of how it will look in the browser while you edit it. That alone makes it worth looking into buying it for me, ugh I hate good software that cost so much lol.

No, you'll need a 64-bit OS too because a 32-bit OS can't execute 64-bit binaries even on a 64-bit CPU.

wow so Adobe isn't making a 64 bit version for OSX, so all the people with new macs are screwed and on the PC side you have to have a 64 bit processor. Sounds like they're trying to not sell copies of CS4 I might upgrade to Vista 64 bit sometime in 09, by then I can find CS4 for a huge discount on Ebay and run it then.

And I just posted in a new thread a minute ago, Premiere CS3 seems to be worthless under 64-bit XP. I have the same Premiere in a XP 32-bit importing the same video perfectly, but under the 64-bit version it refuses to do so under any compression or no compression.

Unless I'm doing something very wrong, I can only blame CS3 for being so stupid under XP 64-bit. Maybe CS4 is a desperate measure to fix that.

And I installed the damn 64 thing only because I bought more than 3.5 Gb of memory, only because of Premiere!

To Gobadgrs, if you just bought it a couple of days ago, I'd assume you could return it with their 30 day satisfaction / return policy
(I thought they had something like that; I know they have a 30 day trial you can run before you decide to buy, and I would think they'd have some kind of return period too). Just tell them that you thought about it and really like it, but also really want to run on Vista 64 or whatever now or in the short future and since it is not a supported platform you'd chosen to wait a few weeks/months to see if their presumably upcoming CS4 is a better fit for you.

It'll be interesting to see what it offers.

Some things I'd like to see for photoshop / bridge / et. al. are:
Less bugs,
Supported LINUX/UNIX/BSD 64 bit,
Supported Vista 64 bit,
Supported XP 64 bit,
Totally rewritten non-broken bridge,
Better printing support for things like batches, margin parameters to fit various frame / mat sizes,
Better bulk / templated RAW import / conversion / sharpening / white balance / color profiling support,
GPGPU acceleration for NVIDIA cards of the 8000 series or newer, and ATI cards of the 3000 series or newer,
Get rid of the spyware / unnecessary internet usage,
Better digital enlargement support with higher quality resampling modes,
Better printing support of groups / batches of photos,
Better printing support for printing multiple photos optimally or manually arranged to tile on a larger sized paper (e.g. roll paper or larger flats),
Better filters to do things like focus / DOF correction estimation and alteration,
Some integrated color profile / color management related utilities.
Easier / more flexible ways to write scripts, plug-ins, et. al.
Ability to install the software in some random spot like on a network file share and then just run it *from* there but activate the PC you want to use
as a development / workstation PC without having to reinstall on that machine. I'd like to be able to blow away the OS on any given PC
to do an OS upgrade or repair or whatever and then not have to spend all day reinstalling *applications* when I could just say "Ok, I'll install this
application on D:, the OS on C:, I'll reformat / reinstall C: whenever I want to, but my applications are still installed on D: (which wasn't touched)
just a click away.
Maybe some UI designs to facilitate working with multiple monitors in the case where maybe one wants to do full screen edits on one, previews on another, palettes and toolbars on another, or whatever.
Perhaps some stereo / 3D type utilities where it can generate stereoscopic images or 3D models from 2D images
Ability of bridge or similar software to index things and be able to share indices between computers and intelligently deal with files that are indexed but moved to different locations e.g. the same stuff that used to be on G:\Incoming is now on L:\Archive or whatever without lengthy rescans when it can be confirmed that the files are the same otherwise.

Yeah the lack of 64 bit especially for flash is just embarrassing.
Lack of Vista 64 support for CS3 is just about as bad considering how long before the release Microsoft made betas / documentation / guides available.
