Adobe is gonna release a long awaited version 6 of Photoshop...Let me say its a awesome upgrade. Many new advanced features.

Go to Bu*.com and search for photoshop they have it for 182...Find a 30 of coupon from a deals site and drop it to 152 plus 6 bucks for shipping equals 158.

Nice deal considering its 199 on the Adobe website. Web developers go get it.

EVERYBODY SELLS ADOBE FOR LESS THAN ADOBE. THIS ISN'T ANY BIG DEAL AT ALL.

5.5 CAME WITH MUTIPLE UNDO'S, SOLVING THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THEIR SOFTWARE. WHAT DOES 6.0 HAVE THAT MAKES IT WORTH THE MONEY TO UPGRADE AGAIN?

Ah, it's not a SW thread without the l33t w4r3z m0nK3yz showing up to brag about how they drive up the cost to legitimate users. Go fook yourself!

The big new features in PS6 are vector tools, image warping (like Kai Goo), a new version of ImageReady with easier slicing and a bunch of other stuff.

I went from PS4 to 5.5 and I love it. Don't know if I need the new features in 6. I may stand pat until 7.

Thanks for the info Dirk, but I'll wait for 7 as well.

I'm not sure what the vector tools will do in Photoshop, which is pixel based. Any idea?

Does anyone know if you can upgrade from 5.0 to 6.0 without going to 5.5 first? From Dirk's post, I am assuming that you can. But just wanted to make sure since some software won't let you make the jump out of sequence.

vector graphics, are used primarily in flash, they can be resided and they dont loose any integrity in the image, no matter how big you stretch the picture it doesnt get grainy

That's cool...my 5.5 doesn't do that for sure....Are there any other differences? Sounds nice, but for $158 more I would hope there was something else.

hm DAM means resized..

vector graphics store information as geometric formulas instead of storing color info by pixel, so it's easy to scale and size (and be affected by other geometric transforms).. depending on the image, they can also be much smaller than normal bitmaps/gifs, so that's why they're useful in flash

I noticed that Adobe stock price has jumped about 10-15% in the last 2 days.... this must be the reason...

Photoshop is already multiprocessor cognizant...One of only
a small number of programs that are...

Anyone know if they're gonna include more low-end user
tools? In particular, while PS 5.5 is great for professional
applications, it doesn't facilitate simple things like putting
multiple digital photos on one printed page (not a contact
sheet of the same image, but several different on the same
page). I still wind up having to fire up Qimage for that.

And although 5.5 made a nod towards Web publishing, it would
be nice to have a few more features in a simple Web publishing
command for photo arrays that would allow me to toss Arles...

I know, I know, these are not the main reasons people use PhotoShop
and there are other programs that do these things. But Adobe
DOES have a Web publishing tool that does a half-a**ed job, and
a contact sheet maker...

Supercharged Layers Effects and one click Styles
Built-in loadable presets
New Vector Shapes tools
New Slicing tool for Web graphics
Powerful New Layer management tools
New text controls including paragraph specifications
New Liquify command gives you "goo-like" control
Comes with an updated ImageReady (ver. 3.0)
New TIFF format capabilities
New ability to print vector type and shapes along with pixel-based images when printing from Photoshop or PDF
New weighted-optimization lets you vary the amount of compression for Web graphics by using channels
Updated, easier to use color management
Print preview
New Crop Tool and cropping features
New enhancements and improvments throughout

There it is...Thats a lot of cool new stuff...AND for WATERBUFFALO who said 158 is not a deal for photoshop....You are dead wrong. Yeah Adobe sells it for 199...And yeah you can get it a Buy.com for 10 dollars cheaper...But I also belong to the NAPP (national association of photoshop professionals). I can get it through them for a very low price of 169 shipped.

I was about to buy it through them when I found the coupon for Buy.com and I was happy that I saved an extra 10 dollars. I also got in on the free shipping and got PS 6 for a GRAND TOTAL OF 152.00. Show me where else you can get it for this price. I didnt even use Ebates on the darn thing...Stupid me.
