Online presence is their #1 goal. Ad dollars follow that. If you can't go to sites safely and the problem is the ads, then you stop allowing the ads. It will only last so long before #1 people stop visiting your site, #2 your site folds.

The only thing they can do is find a new revenue stream. The current process is too prone to issues. If blocking ads prevents it, that's what I (and everyone else should) will do.

What no one ever seems to realize is that while money may be the driving force in many things, it also makes people stupid and lazy and greedy. Look at the insurmountable amount of click bait out there. Information of all forms will always be available in some form, for free.

Yeah or self run ads that don't depend on 3rd parties or spying or any of that garbage. Though it's surprising how much money you can get through a simple donate button.

I wont use the web without ABP installed, If a site, like forbes..wont let me go onto it with the adblock enabled. I wont go to it.

Its hilarious. You go to the forbes website. It wont let you enter unless you let them show ads. But since I wont be entering anysite that I would have to disable my adblocker for, I will never see their ads anyway. And less people will go to their site.

Truthfully im just going to update my host file on my Android phone so that when I'm out of my Wi-Fi range I can browse ad free as well

I am going to do this. I was trying to copy a custom hosts file to my phone, but discovered the system was read only, which means I need to bloody root the damn thing.

Yeah Forbes does not work with adblock. In fact it seems to be detecting that I have it installed, even if I whitelist the site it still thinks I'm using an adblocker. I don't care enough to try anything else. That site is dead to me. I don't even click links to there any more.

Forbes is accessible for me when using Adguard Adblocker.

On occasion I also get blocked, it seems to be when they step up their measures, but more often than not I am always let through.

It makes sense - it's easiest to focus on some kind of signature of the oldest and most used adblocker, as opposed to trying to figure out how all the others work. But I think they still use some kind of blitz effort from time to time because others will get blocked as well.

That, or they are selective regarding which CDN paths and at what times they apply them. I can still get to them through Private Internet Access when surfing from my personal laptop at work using Chrome and Adguard. And from my work desktop on the standard network using Chrome, also with Adguard.

I had just tried, and I noticed I had Adguard disabled on Chrome at work. I remember having to disable it when trying to read an article there some time ago, but now I don't need it. So either I could use ABP and still access it, are they are currently only lightly restricting, versus heavier efforts they used some time ago.

Forbes doen't work for me and I use uBlock as well. Non-origin. I believe I enabled scripts too.

Adaway on the system, and uBlock on firefox which I use mainly for cosmetic blocking.

Nothing against ads per se, I understand a lot of people need help in determining how best to spend their money. I simply fall in the category of already knowing where my money should go.
