Hello great folks.
After rocking 24" monitors for years im planning to go for a 34" screen for gaming and work. And getting a bigger desk at 160 x 80 (cm), theres a lot more room now.
Budget is around $400-450.

Ive been checking these screens:
MSI Optix MAG342CQR 144hz 3440x1440 (385 usd)
Gigabyte G34WQC 34" 144Hz 3440x1440 (439usd)
AOC CU34G2X 34" 144Hz 3440x1440 (412 usd)
(I was also checking out the Samsung G5 for around 370usd but after googling around it didnt seem like people were happy with the screen. I also got a bit worried about a glossy screen rather than a matte for reflections. And that the screen is quite more curved at 1000R).

I went through some review videos and all 3 seems decent, some ups and downs, so im quite confused on what to go for (or if there are better options in that price-range here in Norway).
Would love your advise on what to go for.

PC Specs (if it helps)
Mobo: MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (NH-D15S cooler)
GPU: Asus Noctua RTX 3070
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2 x 16gb
PSU: Corsair RM750X V2 750W
(i love noctua, the brown color... mm)

Thanks in advance!

All three seem very good monitors. I'd go with Gigabyte. Are Alienware monitors available in Norway?

Any reason why you would choose the Gigabyte? It seems to be the preferred one when checking a little more, but felt a bit hard to know exactly why.
Yeah, just checked but they seems to be very expensive. Seems to go for over 1000 usd sadly.

Thanks!
I checked it vs https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/aoc/cu34g2x
The AOC scores higher but even so, it seems the Gigabyte have better coloring/blacks for dark and light rooms? I wonder if the bad ergonomics could be an annoying factor (altho im planning to buy a monitor stand for my desk, it might not matter)?

Unless you plan to adjust your monitor very often, the ergonomics don't matter much. I rarely change the monitor tilt or height.

What games do you play?
Sometimes, and i say sometimes, a ultrawide is more of a nuance then a benefit in few game titles.

Example, a ultrawide is great in first/third person shooters, racing game, flying games, watching movies.

They are HORRIBLE in:
Games where u would want a more even ratio like DOTA, LoL, Diablo series, a lot of Retro's, and turn based games, which includes like Baulders Gate.

Ultrawide also are not so great as productivity monitors.
Sometimes a regular 32inch 1440p may be a better investment then a 34 inch ultrawide, especially since you can pair another 32inch later in the future, should you require more real estate.

To be honest id look for a 32inch 4k, seeing how your running a 3070.
DLSS works very good in a 3000 series, and the 3070 is more then sufficient to drive a 4k near 60fps with DLS.

And 4K has a ton of real estate.

Are you sure that ultrawide display is better choice for you? It's great for work, but when you start gaming, a lot of games will get not so good experience like it would be on 16:9

There are certainly a lot of great monitors out there.

But, for the money, a lot of people, don’t realize MSI is tough to beat, for what they offer.

I have a MSI Optix 24C, absolutely amazing, as a curved VA Panel, looks more like IPS quality.

Now I have a MSI Optix G273QPF, an IPS Panel, Nvidia G-Sync, 165hz, 1ms, only $299, and it’s absolutely amazing.

So, if you can find one that you like, but get an IPS panel, go for it, because nothing can beat them for the money! 👍

P.S. The Curved VA panels are nice, but seriously get an IPS Panel, they are better, and you can sit on a good IPS panels all day, and not feel any strain. 34” IPS will be better for gaming!

UW is great for gaming and productivity, I would never go back to 16:9 again. I use a 32:9 49” at home and a 34” 21:9 at work.

you could also consider the ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B

I’ve never worked with multiple monitors, but they obviously has their merits.
