Advice needed for for new TV, soundbar, Dolby Atmos, connections etc

Hi,

I would like to buy a new 4K TV and soundbar and I am looking for some help please.

Firstly on the size of the TV, my living room isn't massive. The dimensions are 4.9 x 3.16 metres. The TV will sit in the middle of the 4.9M wall looking straight ahead and I sit 82" away from it. According to Samsung website, TV viewing size should be half of your distance in inches. If I round this up it would be a 43" TV. I read elsewhere it should be 2/3's so this would be a 55" TV. Any input on TV size would be appreciated.

For the sound, I'm not massively into bass and I don't want a separate subwoofer. I also don't want separate speakers around my room. Given the size of the room an all in one soundbar seems to be the best fit? Are soundbase/stages on the way out? The number of soundbars seem to outnumber bases/stages over 10:1 on some of the retailers I have checked so I presume they are getting less common?

Going onto Dolby Atmos, is it worth it, and is it going to work in a room as small as mine where I sit quite close to the TV? The choice of an all in one soundbar with Atmos seems quite limited at the moment.

Finally going onto connecting it all up, I also have a Virgin Media TV box and a standalone DVD player. I do understand HDMI ARC to some extent but I'd appreciate any advice on the best method to connect things.

The new Sonos Arc soundbar is getting some rather good reviews from what I've seen. It seems to be among the very best of soundbars - with some quirks tho, so caveat emptor.

And it's not cheap, but an atmos receiver + full set of decent standalone speakers isn't going to be cheap either. Plus, all that takes up lots more space and looks a lot more cluttered, with wires snaking all over the place - including up the walls if you want the full atmos treatment... Ugh, no thanks at least I say.

I have the original Sonos soundbar, along with Sub and Play:1 rear units, and it all sounds really nice, and the Arc supposedly sounds quite a bit better still.
