advice on what Firewire capture card to buy? - already own premiere

Hi,
I already own a copy of premiere, so I'm looking for a cheap capture card to throw into my new video editing box.. its a kt7a-raid machine in win2k. Anyone know what the best card(s) for price and compatibility with premiere are/is ? I've been looking at the pinnacle and dazzle offerings.

only Premere 6.0 supports firewire directly. Version 5.1 requires proprietary drivers to recognize firewire inputs. Otherwise chose the cheapest firewire card you can find. I've heard that TI chipsets are the best.

so 6.0 supports any ohci compliant cards?

Any card with the Texas Instruments (TI) chipset on it. By far the TI chipset is the least problematic of all the OCHI's out there.

hmm, I've been cruising eblay, they have quite a few cheap cards available all the time... is there any particular way to determine if its got a ti chipset? I looked at the specs for the pyro 1394 and the pinnacle studio dv, but I couldnt' find anything.

The Pinnacle Studio DV uses the Texas Instrument's chipset. I'd go with that since it has the best value out of the box.
