After a sentence, do you use one space or two?

I was told when I was young that two spaces was the correct way, and I always thought it looked better, but I've noticed that some people only use one space after they end a sentence. Why is that?

I do it the correct way. Which is two spaces. There is a software bug in the forum software which screws this up though.

I meant in the other 1% of my Internet usage that does not include ATOT, I've noticed some people like to only use one space.

I was taught to use two in college and grtad school. I am taking film classes at the community college and I notice that the new students, fresh out of high school, that I interacted with only used one space.

I don't like that particular convention.. I use two periods with one space.. If anyone questions it, I tell them it was a colon that fell over..

I've always used only one space...though I am aware it should be two.

I was taught and used two spaces until about halfway through high school. I had a few teachers in Jr/Sr years that preferred MLA format, which is more supportive of one space. (Although MLA does not deem two spaces incorrect.) In college, nobody cared as long as I was consistent. I'd argue that one space is sufficient for modern usage.
