After four years of iPhones, I'm now a jailbreaking convert!

I've owned every iPhone iteration since its inception in 2007 and dabbled with jailbreaking here and there but always ended up restoring my phone. Starting with the iPhone 3G, once it was jailbroken, the OS seems to slow to a crawl, the apps were incredibly buggy and simply not worth it to jailbreak it.

I've decided to give it another go with my iPhone 4 because I was sick and tired with the notifications on my lockscreen being utterly useless. After playing around with Intelliscreen and LockInfo, i've settled on the latter and couldn't be happier. My lockscreen is now incredibly useful showing me all my relevant information I need like email and calendar events, as well as notifications and missed calls, all at one glance. My personal preference is to install the apple icons to differentiate the tabs and install the weather clock to replace the native clock that only showed time and date. After 30 minutes of trial and error, I was able to set it up perfectly to suit my needs. I then stumbled upon infoshade, which I can pull down from the status bar like MAC OSX dashboard to quickly review my events and see the weather. absolutely ingenius and implemented just like you'd expect Apple to if and when they get their acts together and do it. with infoshade, I disabled the homescreen page since I felt it was unecessary.

MyWi has also proven invaluable as my office internet went down yesterday and I was able to finally test out my tethering functionality. Now I must preface this by saying I have excellent ATT coverage in my office but once tethered, I honestly couldn't tell the difference between my tethered speeds and ethernet speeds. it was awesome, I have a grandfathered unlimited att data plan and a wifi ipad to go along with it so ATT can forget about making me pay even more. Its not so much that I'll be using it day in and day out but its good to know that if something comes up, I always have my tethered connection to fall back on.

There you have it, I've jumped Apple's protection and I feel my phone is WAY more functional and i'll never look back. Just my 2 cents.
