How many of these things do they have left?
After the last deal I figured they would not have a single one left.
At $10 ( if you use a 20 off 100 ) this is not a bad deal at all.
Mine actually came XP ready. They took the cd with paperport 6 and replaced it with a cd with paperport 7 and slapped an xp ready sticker on it.

Question - is it possible to install this scanner, without the PaperPort software? I don't want all that crap - just to be able to scan to the printer, or to a file.

Uconn, please don't start that whole discussion again. If you read the last few pages of the previous threads you'll see that people are getting their rebates even though they used a coupon.

wombat, I believe you'll need to install the software for the scanner to run properly. You may want to scan through the previous threads because I recall someone saying they plugged the scanner in and their OS auto recognized it. I don't remember if it worked without them installing the software though.

it wasnt with w2k. i plugged it in, and it asked for drivers

I believe you only need to install the driver. Then, open your twain-compliant software and choose File/Acquire or something similar.

I thought I saw a post on FW that Amex Blue is no longer accepting PM for this scanner to
a website that people are using to PM to in the first 2 rounds with this scanner (ie, first round
with $70 MIR, 2nd with $80 MIR). I think they're cutting down on the abuse..

Although this scanner is no longer available through Staples.com, it is still free after rebate for brick and mortar purchases. The current Staples price is $99.99 minus a $70 Staples rebate and Visioneer has a $30 rebate so the net price is still tax on $99.99

Pay close attention to the rebate forms -- the Staples rebate uses a copy of the UPC so you can send the original to Visioneer.
