Those Staples Boneheads called me a day or two ago to tell me that they didn't have anymore, that they won't allow for back orders, that the order was cancelled. I have that sucker back in my cart today. If they don't have in stock, why allow me to buy it? S*$%heads.

I'll order it again with the 17 cent box of clips, part number ACC72380, that they'll pay 3-5 bucks to ship UPS because they won't honor thier web site pricing and availability.

same thing happened to me. I just tell them to cancel the order because I know my local staple store has plenty of them. The store manager also take that online coupon. So it works out great for me!

Well there was a link to a rebate for the 8100 on the upgrade page on Sunday when I posted my message but I see that Visioneer has removed all traces of it.

Sorry.

I think by now, everyone in this country will be well equipped with this device in their houses or workplaces if they didn't already have something else.

This is one of the most dragged along LIVE deal i've ever seen.

aqan, the packing slip (the one that says "this is not an invoice") is your receipt. You just send a copy of that in with the rebate form and upc and you're all set.

This is a nice fast little scanner. The XP driver I downloaded from Visioneer's website is a fully fuctional twain driver that works properly with XP. The one touch copy button is excellent!! I highly recommend getting this deal. I also recommend starting the rebate at Staple's website. This way they know the paperwork is on the way. I've had better success with Staple's rebates by starting them online.

i hope there's no spyware on it

here's how i got a very nice deal:
bought the scanner and then added stuff to bump it to $150
used $30 off $150
total = $120
went back and returned the scanner. I got a full refund of $99.98
went to another store & purchased new scanner and then added stuff to bump it to $100
used $15 off $100
total = 85
sent in $80 rebate

i actually spent $20+tax on $50 worth of stuff & a $5 scanner w/o PMing!

So how long is it taking you guys to get your rebates? I'm tempted, but to put up $80+tax up front....

Just go in on this deal and got the scanner, thanks!

Question though. I've installed the xp drivers (i use xp pro) graciously linked by Pretty Cool and when I choose the "Folder Copy" button below "Select Destination," it gives me some error in german or some other language not english. After the popup error and it takes me to the next screen, where, if i do anything I get another german error. The weird thing is that all the labels and such are in English. There's nothing wrong w/ Pretty Cool's link because it's the same one at the official visioneer site.

Also, if the above error gets resolved, how do you save it as JPG instead of huge BMP files? (of course other than going to photoshop and converting it or importing it directly from photoshop--i like the button idea and would like to take advantage of this than doing it manually)

just got this.. figure this is cheaper than using my fax machine to make copies.. now i can use my epson 880 for copies..

my paper clips should be here on the 28th, and the scanner, per the website, give a delivery date of 4/2/2002. hmm.. must clear some room for it now..

I recently purchased a Visioneer 8100 and HP all-in-one V40xi printer/scanner/copier/fax. For Visioneer I get what you pay for. Speed is fine but photo scan quality is POOR. Compared to the HP it is like day and night. I own a Visioneer 5300 for almost two years. I though this 8100 quality would be better. Not the case. the only difference I can see is the resolution.

HP has an Auto Document Feeder (ADF). You can scan multiple pages including photos at a time. Very satisfied for its performance. I got it from Gateway store for $150 before $50 rebate.

This is a good scanner for the price. Can't comment about the photo quality, as I mostly use the scanner for copying, faxing and archiving documents, where it is reasonably fast.

My 8100 shipped from California and I was a little disappointed that it shipped with the old driver package and Paperport 6, which has problems with XP. Fortunately for me, I already had Paperport 7 installed on my computer and I was able to get XP drivers from the Visioneer website. Some people are getting 8100s with XP drivers and Paperport 8, so you just have to wait and see. I figure after a Staples coupon and rebate, my final cost is around $15. Most definitely it is worth this cost. The one button copy button is fantastic and worth the $15 all by itself.

On a big plus, Staples has really speeded up their rebates. They are coming in less than six weeks. I recommend applying for the rebate online and then sending in the documentation.

Savannah GA area people....The Staples store on Abercorn, next to Media Play, pricematched the ad from www.shentech.com for $55 and did not charge for shipping. Out the door at $58.30 and now to send in the $70 rebate.

If I keep "getting paid" to take these scanners, can I make it into a permanent job?

I just saw the old thread about the $80 rebate and didn't see this one. Here's what I posted in the other thread:

<< Good news about still getting in on this deal. I was at my local staples and they had about 10 of these at $99.95. I didn't get one and wanted to see if they still have a rebate. I didn't realize that the $70 rebate is still valid until May 30, 2002. I am off in the morining to get one. I will price match it with Andaratech for $59.95 and make a couple of bucks off of this. >>

I noticed that Shentech has it for $55. Will I have a problem price matching this? I read on Staples web site that they will not price match anything that has rebate making the total a lesser amount then the price match.

From Staples website:

<< Available coupons and rebates will be deducted from the Staples price to come up with a net Staples price when calculating the price match. For example, if you buy an item from us for $100, and we offer a $20 rebate, the net price is $80. If the item is available from another company for $80 or more, there will be no price match. Another example would be if you buy an item from us for $159 and you have a $30 coupon the net price is $129. If the item is available from another company for $125, the price match will be for $4.40 (110% of the difference). >>

Go for the PM. Staples B&M don't even know the rebate is still valid. They think it is only for the few times headquarters does an in-store promotion with it.

My Staples PMed this site no problem. Make $10 after the rebate, then e*ayed the scanner for $50. Rebate is coming in quick too.
