Age of Empires 3 or Battlefied 2?

I know these are completely different games - but I'm having trouble deciding. Which would you choose and why?

AOE3 takes the largest step down in quality for any sequal EVER! Do not waste your money on this game please!! Wait for Civ4 or RON2 if you like RTS...
Battlefield 2 is decent but apart of me preferred the base capture 'radius' mechanism in Joint Ops... this used to lead to some real sneaky play with ppl hiding in the radius ... instead of having to virtually ram the flag pole up ur ass like u have to in BF2...

I really haven't ever liked and RTS game that centers around ranged combat.

I have both and I find AOE3 more fun. BF2 is good in small doses.

Simple: BF2 is published by EA. Thus choose AOE3, developed by Ensemble Studios, a company that respects their employees and treats them well.

also, anyone has to treat their customers better than EA id say wait for civ4 thats looken neat as heck. bf2 is fun when it works. i cant bring myself to reccomend giving $ to EA.

It's true that it's not hard to treat employees better than EA, but Ensemble Studios was mentioned at the Game Developer Conference as one of few companies that treats their employees as they should be.

Wait wait... thanks for reminding me. BF1942 was just published by EA. This time around they OWN Digital Illusions. Same with ES and MS. They don't just publish the game. In traditional publisher/developer relationships, the publisher gets a lot of say in what the developer makes. The only exceptions is where the developer has a lot power or an alternate distribution method like VALVe. This is why even in situations where the publisher DOESN'T own a company (which isnt' the case here) it is still important to consider them. I choose not to give EA my money because they've made many decisions consistently that only benefits them. They have little respect for gamers or developers and this is my little way of saying, "I won't stand for it in this industry".

BF2 = buggiest Most popular online game
AE0 3 = Awesome RTS but nothing revolutionary

I would just end up getting Call of duty 2 or Fear if i were you.

While BF2 may be full of bugs and POSish... It's still the most fun game I've played since Q3... I have both Quake4 and FEAR, but I still went back for a couple hours of BF2 last night because I think it's better. it also looks better than FEAR IMO, and almost as good as Q4. Anyways it's a different style game, completely multiplayer oriented, unlike Q4 and FEAR. Ao3 is obviously completely different too, so I dunno how to even compare, but I haven't really heard anything good about it. I'd do BF2!! I love the game....

For MP I'd buy AOE III. Replayablilty for strategy games is long. I played AOE II for 2 years before finally getting bored of it. And that was only because they no longer patched or updated it. BF 2 demo I just couldn't quite get into. If I were to buy a FPS game right now it would be F.E.A.R.

And it (BF2) honestly isn't buggy. All the issues I have had with it were correctable on my end, meaning the game is fine for me & many others. I play for hours at a time without any issues at all. Again, if you want to play the best shooter to come out in years get BF2. If you want to play one of the most interesting & innovative strategy games in years, then get Dawn of War (get the Game of the Year edition, and pick up Winter Assault expansion if you have the cash).

AOE 3 is terrible IMHO. I mean the eyecandy is wonderful but the gameplay is horrible.
