I guess this is just the flavor of the month. Are they remastering everything because they've ran out of ideas or are they remastering everything because the gamers who grew up on these games are now making games and want to relive that nostalgia but refuse to play with outdated graphics? I played D2:LoD for over a decade straight and if they remaster the game, I doubt I'll go back. I played the WC2 and Brood Wars remasters they released, but it didn't draw me back in for any additional time than if I had just installed the old versions and played them.

Sigh only for Win 10
You might want to get used to that little disclaimer. Microsoft doesn't want anyone to use any other platform to play games other than what they give us to use. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they tried to block other digital distributors in their next OS iteration.

I am aware but it has been working since then flawlessly. Why do I have to buy new Windows every time they release it? Why can't MS update Win 7 forever?

Why on earth should they bend over backwards and do all the compatibility changes and testing for a 10 year old OS? As somebody that works in software development, it is extremely tedious to support old OS's.

I understand that some people are just running on old hardware that may be incompatible with Windows 10, although this most likely means they also may not have the resources to run more modern games. And in some cases you have to run Windows 7 for some specialized software that doesn't support 10.

But Windows 10 is a good OS. I find it painful when I have to use Windows 7, because frankly its extremely clunky by todays standards.

Mmmm a complete and fleshed out new KOTOR 2 would be fantastic.
As would KOTOR 3. What a wasted franchise. Still havent forgiven Bioware and Lucas Arts for turning the franchise into an MMO instead of a proper ending with a KOTOR 3.

I find it painful to have to use Windows 10. Frankly, I can think of nothing that Windows 10 offers that 7 didnt do just as well with a better looking interface. And it didnt send you to the windows store every time you had to find a program. Well there is DX 12 I suppose, but after what, 3 years or so, that much hyped feature is still not used effectively in most games.

Because it's 10 years old? Are you still expecting them to support it in another 10 years?

I agree. The only reason I went to W10 was because, well, I had to since they're going to stop supporting W7.

It's fine though, I'm well on my way to making the complete switch to Linux, especially since Proton is so dang good.

Back on topic: I picked up the AOE2 HD Remaster and played it a little, but I probably didn't play it enough to justify paying for the remaster.

I ended up buying this and for me it works well and looks very pretty, 35 different civilization , a lot of maps, lots of ease of use improvements in the game. It's available on Steam and the ms store , if you own the hd version you get a 20%? discount

Multiplayer is a mess however, steam and ms store seem to have compatibility issues (stick with steam as they get patched first i have read) , they need to get browser lobby fixed as currently it only displays games from 1 location it seems.

It's worth the $16 i payed for it and will be awesome if the multiplayer issues are resolved

AoE4? Why? I thought it looked pretty awesome. Other people were saying that it looked like a mobile game though.
Because nobody knows how to make a decent RTS anymore and given the genre has been out of the mainstream spotlight for so long, chances are very high that they will dumb it down in an attempt to grab a new audience.
