$250 for a part with virtually non-existent support thats only available on a bus that will likely be phased out by the time its useful? Sounds like at best its another case of the early adopters being punished. Call me when they're $50 and most games require them.

Agreed. I am not looking forward to having another add-on card in my PC. For $150, I might just buy a console with that cash instead.

I'm looking forward to their release to see what its all about. Not sure if I will get one.

I'll end up getting one.

IMO, it's a far better purchase than SLI. Vid card prices are getting ridiculous these days, and now they want everyone to buy two?

I'm interested in them too, but no way would I buy a PCI version. When are the PCI-E ones supposed to arrive? (Even if I wanted to use old school PCI, I don't have any free PCI slots anyway...)

Edit: Not that I can afford to be an early adopter , but I'm still hoping I can buy one of these in the "not too distant" future...

And less than $200, preferably down to the $100ish range. That is if it proves to be better than SLI GPUs and Havok.

I thought most of the newer mobos that have a 1x PCIe slot we blocked if you had a high end card that has the 2 slot cooling setup? I am more then likely wrong but is it true?

EDIT:I seen the Asus A8N32 has the PCIe slot above the first PCIe x16 slot. So me wrong

Same thing happened with 3d card, we know how that worked out.

I like the direction they are going with this. Hopefully game developers will take advantage of what this thing can do.

Better question is what game engines.

I already have a sample one for UE3 testing. Let me tell you, for the e-penis crowd, if you have 7900GTX SLI/whatever ungodly expensive hardware for a few from FPS in a god damn game, and don't have Ageia, your pants are down. Unreal Tourament 2k7 will support it out of the box, and UE3 makes decent use of SMP and PPU.

Whoa you have one?!! Sweeet. What kind of new effects are you seeing? Does it help on the FPS side or no?

If you actually saw what my Quadros do in game, you'd cry. You're asking how a car will look when its still just an engine and a frame. I have no idea! I was explicityly forbidden to move it out of Neko Kawaii 2, take screen shots, or switch any part of my video subsystem.

One thing I can tell you is splashed gravel from shell impacts is visible and can hurt you.

Edit: Did "they" forbid you from bringing that entire machine on the cruise boat?

It looks really cool, but $200-$250 is alot when you can play games just fine with a GPU. And it only supports newer games. If all valve games had it I would buy it.

I'd like to see it <$200 before I'd consider buying it. Their site lists it as $299.

Let the early adopters push through the first phase. It'll come down in price once it's more mainstream and more developers start using it.

BTW, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for PC will support it. Options for effects are medium, high and PPU ... I'm not sure if medium/high uses Havok or the Ageia software implementation. If you look on Ageia's site, there are two Flash clips showing the differences.

Funniest quote ever!

The realism that the AGEIA PhysX Accelerator adds to gaming is astounding," said Kelt Reeves, president of Falcon Northwest. "I think the PhysX processor has the potential to be as important an add-in to PC gamers as a Creative's Sound Blaster® is today."

Somebody doesn't realize that Soundblaster has been replaced by integrated sound on the vast majority of computers!

Instead of a PPU....why don't they allow for Dual Core Processors to use one of the cores for processing like this?

Supposedly specialized hardware can do this stuff much faster than even a dedicated (general purpose) CPU core...I would like to see some benchmarks on PPU vs. dual-core CPU though...

Edit: It's not really too far-fetched of an idea though if you think about it...something along the lines of doing all graphics processing on the main CPU as opposed to having a fast discrete video card...and when was the last time you used software rendering in a game?

You know, this sounds cool and all and it does make me want one... but this is also a bit ridiculous. Video card prices are bad enough these days, but soon we are going to told that we need to buy a PPU card too to get the most out of our games? WTF? As someone else mentioned, will we eventually have AI cards? In the end, all this will really accomplish is push more people toward consoles where things are much simpler and you don't have to feel inferior because you don't have two ungodly expensive video cards in SLI and a PPU card.
