Also depends on if the "correction" is worth anything. In this case, a speling errror is generally corrected by the readre's own brain and in cases such as this ( informal social "conversation" making such an insignificant correction is mostly for the "corrector's" benefit.
In other words, it serves no purpose of clarification and is mostly 'snarky' in it's origin.
So if you think that's being an asshole, then fine, I'm an asshole. Now you have that level of behavior to expect from me and despite anything to the contrary, that will be your perception.
