I actually had an Intel SE440BX, a motherboard with 1x AGP.
My Geforce256 DDR (Creative Annihilator Pro) would not work in it, while my Riva TNT2 Ultra would. AGP 4X with Fast Writes: Yes (Annihilator Pro) AGP 2X with sideband support (Rivan TNT2 Ultra). The box said the Annihilator Pro was backwards comapatable w/ 2x AGP while the TNT2 Ultra was backwards compatable down to 1x.
I also had an Asus P3B-F and Asus P2B-D which the Annihilator Pro WOULD work in. Are these 1x AGP slots too? I've always thought so, but the Asus site describes them as AGP 2.0 compliant slots. Most Video cards made today also require AGP 2.0 compatability. Is there more than one standard for 1x AGP slots? so AGP 2.0 does not equal AGP 2X?
EDIT: just read Compuguru's reply... could it have been a voltage issue?
