AGP for 440BX2

I want to upgrade my 1x 4mb agp, vendor says I can't.

Do help me which all I can buy and of what x,

Also I have 100mhz 128mb single dimm ram, vendor says u can put 133mhz additional and it will work as 100mhz is no longer avaliable.

Pls help me, I need to upgrade my computer graphics.

It is 350mhz PII, 128mb, 4mb AGP creative graphoc blaster, Vibra Soundcard

First off, on the RAM -- PC133 RAM is backwards compatible with PC100, so you can use it. Make sure you get single sided RAM though. BX chipsets do not work well with double sided RAM (it will only count half of it).

As far as the video cared goes, (someone correct me if I am wrong, it has bee a while since I have worked on a BX board), I think the BX's only support AGP 2X. If the 4X video card is backwards compatible at 2X, it should work fine. I know a Voodoo 3 will run in a BX (I have done it on many boards a few years back).

Who made the board & what is its model & revision #? This info can help us help you.

I just installed 256mb of "double sided" corsair xms 150 in my GA-6BXC and it counts it all in "memory test" in the POST screen and in various windows appz like system info, are you sure about that?
Im new to computers and it may be counting it ok but not actually using half of it I dunno...

Get a ATI rage pro , works great with the 440bx. It's agp 2x , but thats all that mobo can take .

Well I have intel original 440BX2 motherboard. I even emailed intel support. Here is what they replied:

The Intel(R) SE440BX-2 Motherboard complies with AGP revision 1.0. It
supports only +3.3V AGP-66/133 devices, therefore, it will not support
newer AGP cards (revision 2.0, +1.5V)

Regarding the memory upgrade, it is very possible that memory running

Well I am still confused for agp card, will 2x work or not, as intel says it won't any help?

I have asus P3B-F 440BX motherboard and Gainward GF3Ti200 GS - works great
so runnig GF3 on 440BX chipset in AGPx2 mode is not a problem but dunno how about intel mobos maybe there are some issues...

"It supports only +3.3V AGP"..........so any AGP 2x card will work, just make sure the new video card you get says its 2x/4x agp compatable, and you'll be good to go. I have yet to see a video card that is only AGP 4x 1.5V, all i've seen are backwards compatable, it's the newer motherboards we have to worry about that only work with AGP 4x video.
