AGP Vid card recommendations for Asus P2B

I'd like to upgrade my Asus P2B system from the Viper V550 AGP I'm currently using. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or, if you are currently using a P2B, what video card are you running? I'd like to get one of the GeForce Titanium cards, but am not sure if the newer ones are compatible with my mobo. I'm just looking for something better than the V550, not bleeding-edge. I'm not a big gamer, although I would be if I had time. And cheap. Cheap is a must. Anything from a GeForce2 Ti on up. Or should I consider an ATI card?

Any helpful recommendations are appreciated.

I'm running a Celeron 1.0G in a slocket w/ 768MB RAM. The mobo rev is 1.10. The GF3 Ti is actually first on my list, but I wanted to make sure no one else had any compatibility problems with it and the P2B.

The GF3 Ti200 would be good. I got one used on the FS/T for $50 a few months ago. Should be at least that cheap now.

Well, I'm not settled on a Ti200+, it was just the card type I was considering. I'll look into the GF256. I'll probably go with a Ti200+ if they are not that much more expensive. I'm in a training class right now and do not have too much time to check prices...I'll have to check at home tonight.

Having said that, I also want something that will do a respectable job of playing the latest and greatest games. You know...just in case.

Class is over for now, so I'll have to check back in tonight. Thanks for the replies so far.

Celeron 1.4 Tualatin (using Upgradeware Slot-T) and Radeon 9100 64 MB in Asus P2B rev. 1.10. 512 MB RAM.

UT2003 runs OK on this rig with the eye candy turned down at 1024x768 x 32. A Geforce3 Ti200 would be about the same speed. However, with ATI you're almost guaranteed good 2D. With nVidia, it really depends on the manufacturer.

Radeon 9100 64 MB is around US$80.

What does a GF3 Ti200 have over a regular GF3? The specs seem to indicate the GF3 Ti200 is slower than the GF3. I thought the Titaniums were better versions of the original GPUs.

The Ti200 is slower than the GF3 vanilla. It can be overclocked to the same or greater speed.

Which nVidia manufacturers are recommended? That are still around?

A couple of years ago I would have gone with VisionTek. Now I'm looking at PNY, MSI, Gainward, or Leadtek.

Anyone have any recommendations on nVidia card manufacturers? Which ones to stay away from?

I've been doing some research on Google Groups about GF3/GF4 or Radeon and P2B combos. Most of the messages mention slower computers not being able to keep up with the newest cards and creating a bottleneck. As stated earlier, my P2B rig has a Celeron 1Ghz (S370-DL slocket) and 768MB RAM. What is the best price/performance combo? I don't want to spend the extra money on a newer card if I can't see any performance increase over a older one.

I'm open to both nVidia and ATI cards. Whichever gives the best price/performance ratio.
