AGP Video Card Recommendation?

My system is as follows;

Asus A8V Deluxe mb
AMD 4800x2 cpu
Windows XP Pro
Antec True Power 550 psu
2gb ram
3 Hard Drives
DVD & CD burner
ATI AIW X800 video Card
Dell 2405FPW Monitor

I want to upgrade to the Dell 3008WFP. What would be a suggested AGP Dual DVI Video card that would work with my system? I do not do any gaming. Mainly AUTOCAD, Office App's and surfing the net. I do not want to upgrade the psu. Just looking for a solid card with no glitches. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately this video card needs a 6 pin power connector (which is very suprising to me consider it is HD46xx)

P.S. I might be you can get away with a much weaker card than these also. (hopefully someone else can also give suggestions for this thread. I don't use Auto CAD)

I have that PSU and you aren't even taxing it if you get the 4650.

@Justlearning: IIRC, AGP is able to deliver much less power to the card compared to PCI-Express. This is why the 4650 needs the power input.

If You can still find one, get a HD3850, it is still the most powerful AGP card, and has a 256bit memory bus as well as DDR3 as opposed to the
HD4650 with DDR2 and a 128bit memory bus.

You hav a decent setup, you can find a new HD 3850 AGP in newegg for less than $120 bucks. Is more powerful than the HD 4650 which has a crippled bus which negates the anti aliasing performance improvements found in the latter. I owned a HD 3850 AGP card and it allowed me to play crysis on med/high settings.

What about for Win7? I got a HD 3850 AGP on Newegg. I was trying to re-purposing a 3.0Ghz FSB800 P4 HT system as a media center for my mother, so I wanted to get the newest/best AGP card I could for decoding acceleration (and to make sure there was a chance it would have decent support in Win7).

I should have remembered how reluctant ATI is to support hardware configurations other than their own. ATI provides "AGP HotFix" drivers to support these AGP cards, but they are only available in WinXP and Vista flavors...not Win7.

When I do the performance evaluation in Win7 32-bit with the Vista AGP HotFix drivers installed, I get 2.0 for graphics performance. When I try to use the latest Catalyst drivers (9.5), I have to pick randomly from about 8 different "HD 3850" entries and force the driver to install, ignoring the "Not designed for this hardware" message. It results in a MUCH higher score in the performance evaluation. I don't recall the exact score, but it was closer to 8 or 9 on the 10-scale used in Win7. However, the card was unstable with sleep / resume and some functions while using the forced driver.

if you're looking at a 30" monitor, why not upgrade to a more modern system first? What is a 30" monitor, $800+? Keep your eyes peeled for the periodic i7 920 deal, you should be able to recycle most of your components and build a badass system for ~ $500. You could either then compromise on a 27-28" monitor or wait 6 months and then get a monitor.
