AHCI Malfunctioning

I've been using SATA drives in AHCI mode on a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 for more than 2 years without a single issue until now.

Normally, a list of the connected SATA drives in AHCI mode are supposed to be displayed on the screen in the second stage of the POST similar like this one but my computer is getting stuck before the SATA drives are detected and doesn't go any further. However, when AHCI mode is disabled the computer works fine in Native IDE mode.

I'm at quite a lost with this problem and I would appreciate it if any of you could help me out.

It just happened when you woke up, or did you make any changes to your system prior to the symptoms occuring?

I didn't perform any change. It was simply after a routine system restart.
