ahci+xp+intel toolbox

Hi.I have been just toying around some and ran into a problem of sorts.?I try to keep up on the reading,but is'nt ahci still supposed to work with the intel toolbox?It won't for this setup whereas the tool did work in sata ide mode.This is the 80GB X25-M,with a 128KB alignment and 12% unpartitioned space wiped prior with HDDERASE.I took that suggestion(the alignment for xp) from the ocz forums,and thought to try it out.There's been a definite improvement with the new alignment,but if i don't have toobox i feel like i just traded some drive maintenance for NCQ.?Hmm.

Just for giggles,the exact same setup i tested 6 weeks later.Surprisingly,with no trim use whatsoever or a working intel toolbox i saw very very little degradation in performance.I run cc cleaner,(no wipe disk space operations)and that's it.I know that this benchmark could have its flaws,but i could consistantly make the same marks with it before and after,so it's relative to me.Sorry,i could'nt resist at least posting something about this because because in my mind it debunks a number of things.On winxp to boot.
