Pulled out the rear case fan, replace the front fan with a Panaflo, replaced my old power supply with an Enermax whisper 330watt and unplugged my hard drive cooler....

I can actually study with my computer on! I've never been so pleased. I suggest that those of you w/ loud computers give this a try. mmmm...good.

Congrats on your new quiet system

I did the same thing myself about 2 weeks ago. The only two fans I have in my system now are L1A panaflos (one in the front and one for the PS). Very very quiet!

Where is a good place (US) to get Panaflo fans? My system is pretty quiet. Just a no name fan in front, Antec thermal controlled fan 300W PS, and a GORB. It's nice with .18u CPU and video cards now. No need for all those large loud fans. I'm thinking the Panaflo will quiet it down a little more.

Get your Panaflos here. You have to choose between 3-pin and 4-pin (if you aren't sure get 4-pin)

The L1As are quiter but less powerful. Unless you are need of heavy duty cooling, in which case you wouldn't be using Panaflos anyway, get the L1As.

I replaced all my case fans with the panaflo L1A's from teamawe.com and I just love the silence. I have to get with 6inches before I can tell if that sucker is on. The loudest component in my system is a tie between my 45GB 75GXP HD or my Taisol 733 fan.

mule it's most likely the taisol 733. that thing isn't silent at all...maybe not compared to other fans but still, i'm gonna replace mine soon.

Mule: I put my IBM 45gb 75GXP in one of those Silent Drive Modules, the total cost was about $40 shipped but it definitely does what it claims!

Sounds like a great idea.
I am running with 4 Antec 80mm fans in my SX1030 and it's pretty loud.
Not to mention the FOP-32. I think I will look into the Panaflo's

panaflo's are very quiet you can order them for $4.50 + shipping from teamawe.com. The fans in my case are: Two panaflo's one Antec running at 7 volts and a "quiet" fan (which is actually louder than the panaflo).

I used to have a VOS32 cooler, has two of the 60mm YSTech fans, but it was too loud. I made some blow holes, and put in 4 80mm L1A's, and a 120mm L1A. Along with the the new quiet fans on the heatsink, my computer is quieter than it has ever been. Even with 9 fans in it. Never could hear it over the music though
