Are any of you in the same boat? I don't know what you guys think, but this fan is insanely loud. It's like a SCSI airport. I have to get rid of it immediately. So if anyone wants it for $8-9 bucks shipped, you got it.

I know what you mean, millisec sent me the fop38 instead of the fop32 that I ordered. Not worth the noise

My TaiSol just arrived. I was previously using the Alpha with the YS Tech fan. On my newly arrived 1Ghz Thunderbird, I managed to run it rock stable and cool at 1150mhz.

So the TaiSol is not just a quiet fan (I can barely hear it running) but using the Thermal Interface Pad that came with the cooler, I squeezed an extra 150mhz from the CPU.

Some people were convinced that the Thermal Interface Pad that comes with the TaiSol should be left on, as it should provide adequate cooling for CPU's up to 1.1Ghz. I'm now a believer and agree 100%! It must be some kind of a special thermal pad cause it's very thin and it works just as well as thermal grease.

So for those of you who buy the TaiSol fan - Don't remove the pad! It really works just as well or better as thermal grease, and the fan is extremely quiet.

In my opinion, having owned several fan/heatsinks including the Alpha, the TaiSol is #1. Very quiet and fantastic cooling for overclocked CPU's. Just don't remove the thermal pad.

I have a newly arrived Alpha pal35t with delta fan, and am currently typing you with my P3 700 at 1036mhz. It's lightning. But the fan is driving me insane. Any recommendations on what to substitute it with. Something even less noiser than a YStech would be great. I just realized this delta fan is rotating at 7500rpm...that's insane. It's ready to fly out of the room. I'm looking for something at around 4000rpm or less. Nice an quiet. Thanks

But isnt the TaiSol an entire heatsink/fan combo. I want to keep my alpha 35T heatsink, but replace it with a new fan. What is the fan name on your TaiSol? Thanks again.

The Taisol fan is a special Delta 50mm fan (10 mm thick). It is special made for Taisol by Delta, but similar to another Delta fan.

thanks...so that's a no go then...I think i'm just gonna throw in a Sunon 4300rpm 60mm fan in place of the delta.

There is no gainsaying it, the Delta 38 cfm is L O U D. But wait, there's more. The particular sound it makes is the most annoying I've ever heard from a PC case.

Nonetheless, I use one. It's a mind over matter sitch. After hearing the Delta monster for a few months, switching back to a YSTech 27 cfm temporarily is a real treat. Nevertheless, the YSTech becomes annoying after a couple of weeks. Pabst fans are said to be pretty quiet, but finding one in the US seems a bit difficult. Delta now makes a 30 cfm CPU fan that's said to be more bearable than its monster banshee from hell model. If you really want a high performance OC'd box that's genuinely quiet, it means a good bit of time and effort in sussing out the best materials and methods needed to achieve the "impossible." A thermal monster that's cool running AND quiet is no mean feat.

oh my god...i just replace the delta with a ys-tech I had laying around...its shear heaven now...before...simply hell...the delta is so high pitched, whiny and resonant. Peaceful now. Time for some high quality recording in Cubase.

I ordered the FOP38 from Millisec, and I knew the Delta would be on it, but man this thing is LOUD

Anyways, I will live with the fan, but the fact that I had to file the edge off the heatsink was the most annoying part. If you are ordering the FOP38, be warned you will have to file off the lip.

Also, I'm still able to hit the same overclock of 1036mhz@1.75 with a YS Tech Fan on a P3 700 cbo. The Delta is bull if you ask me. I'm going to throw in an even quieter Sunon 4300rpm (31dba) to see what I can get. I should easily be able to hold 1000+mhz @1.75 with a sunon.

Rudee, does the Taisol out perform the Alpha? I'm currently stuck on which one to get, cost isn't much of a difference, just want very very good performance.

The difference between my Alpha with YS Tech and my new TaiSol is 1 degree. 43C vs 44C.

The YS Tech is quiet compared to the Delta fan, however compared to the TaiSol fan (which uses a smaller Delta) the TaiSol is the quietest by far. I can barely hear it running.

In my opinion the TaiSol beats the Alpha hands down.

Where can I get this smaller delta that is accompanied with TaiSol heatsink? I can still hear my ystech churning away, so I'm still up for a quieter solution. Let me know the name of the fan and a possible site to pick it up. Thanks bud.
