I made the mistake of sleeping with my computer on and I woke up with a migraine because of the fop38's high pitched whine.

Some of us need low noise systems. Fo ex, I demand the quietest environment possible, as I use this comp for 24bit audio recording/editing/producing. It's in a home studio kind of setup, so something like a Delta is not welcome. Even this YS Tech is loud. And my P3 700 is screaming just fine at 1036 mhz. I bring it down to 933mhz (133/133/33) when recording. Still looking for this so-called silent fan...aka Taisol. Let me know.

for about $5.00 worth of parts, you can do what I did- add a rheostat in the front panel of your pc- dial it down for most uses: when playing UT or Q3- turn it up full. (100 ohm Radio Shack rheostat, and a knob

I am often amused by the threads concerning the really loud "black label" Delta fans, can't help it...

The guys at Millisec pretty much call you a fool for buying one, and I'm pretty sure that the return policy comes down to "You bought it, it's yours!" but I'm also sure that sales are brisk....I don't get it, guess I'm not really hardcore.

What's your point Jhhnn? Sometimes people like to give things a try for themselves, as opinions from others are not always useful. In my case, I did infact find the fan too loud for my liking, and simply sold it off for $10. No big deal No loss, no gain. Now I'm searching for <30dba 3600-4000rpm fan for an even quieter experience. Let me know if anyone knows of any besides this "mysterious" TaiSol. I can't find it anywhere. Later.

Jhhnn...awesome man. They have the fan for $6.25. Thanks for the link. I will think about giving it a try. But my case is really quiet now, so maybe I should just stick to what I have. Later

PwAg, maybe you should give the ADDA 16.1dBA fan a try. It is probably the quietest (also the weakest?) fan on the market. Be warned though, you may lose up to 5C worth of cooling performance...

Jhhnn, what could be the difference between the CEK733092 and the CEK734092, then? No information shown on the web page to indicate why the second one costs twice as much.

Look closely, and you'll see that the 734092 has longer fins than the 733092. That is horizontally in the illustration, the footprint of the base is bigger, part of the sink hangs out under the fan. Hard to describe, may not fit your board, not worth it, IMHO.

OK, just found the .pdf file. So, they cut a length of extruded aluminum to 80mm instead of 60mm and the price doubles? OK, I think I've got my next upgrade figured out. If only the dame MSI K7T Pro/2 was out, I'd have it by now!

dynamat is a rip off...12 bucks a square foot or something. I was actually thinking of lining my comp with cardboard maverick! Have you been successful with it? Let me know. I'm interested for sure. Later

I've got three 80mm Pabst fans and a very quiet (although quite slow) Quantum LCT harddrive. The system is almost impossible to notice.
If I turn on some soft music or just open a window the computer cannot be heard anymore.
If you want a quiet system I strongly recommend Pabst fans.

OK, that's great, but where did you get the freaking Pabst fans? I have looked everywhere for them, and cannot find anyone who sells them.

Anyone try slapping an 80 or 92mm fan on their HS? if you get a quite one, you can cut the noise and boost CFM...

I drafted a shroud to do just this, I just havn't made it and tried it out yet. Going from a black label 38cmf to a sunon 92mm 44cfm or quiet sunon 120mm 70cfm fan (minus some resistance due to the shroud, increasing with fan size)..

PwAg,
If you want that fan from the Taisol. I imigine you can ask around for somebody who do not want their fan. Some member were talking about replacing the fan from the Taisol w/ a bigger one. This one work out for me, so I'm keeping mine.

According to Taisol, the 934 has a 20 mm longer Heat sink and are rated for 1.3 Ghz Athlon. For $21(twice the price of the 933), it's still a cheap HSF.

I live in Germany. Pabst fans can be purchased here at almost any computer shop. I've bought my fans at Comtech.
You can order them online at AConto e.g. although in my opinion AConto is quite expensive. AConto sells all kind of stuff to make a computer inaudible.

Anyone ever tried an Adda 60mm fan for the hs that is 28.3 cfm? I have one on the way. The current sunon that I have is only 21 cfm I think.
