Ok, guys, I've been working forever on this project, and am this close (gesturing with fingers) to getting everything to properly work. Unfortunately, I still have those last few steps to go. Here's what has happened so far...
On my University of Washington student account, I've compiled php and installed mysql. This is running AIX. PHP appears to be running just fine, and mysql works for everything that I need to do from the commandline. Essentially, I know that PHP and MySQL are working independently. I compiled PHP support in MySQL, and have edited my php.ini file to reflect the location of my mysql.sock socket. I know that PHP+MySQL can work, but I just haven't been able to get that last step. Here's an example of a student's website that has it working (I emailed him, but haven't got a response from him yet).
Working Example
My phpinfo()
This is the error I get when I try to run anything that uses MySQL+PHP:
Warning: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/da26/d29/robcole/mysql.sock'
I have the socket in the /da26/d29/robcole directory. Like I said, mysql works fine from the commandline with the socket=/da26/d29/robcole/mysql.sock entry in .my.cnf.
Can anyone help?
thanks,
Rob
