AIM disconnects often in Vista

When ever I use AIM in Vista it disconnects a lot. I often find myself trying to message someone and they never get the messages even though it still shows me as connected but who ever I am messaging, once I get reconnected they tell me that I had disconnected a few times....does anyone else have this problem?

Did you try AOL since it's their software?

You mean contacting AOL? Well I tried posting in their help and support forums but no one responds. I found another post on the AOL help and support forums and all I found there were people just acknowledging the problem but no solutions.

Have you tried using 3rd party IM clients such as Pidgin?

Its so sad its been almost 5 months later and I still have this same problem. I have tried pidgin but it doesnt have video chat support...

I think it is more likely your internet connection, unless you have ruled that out somehow

Vista hated my old router. Got a new "vista approved" router and all those problems went away.

Seems silly, but it worked. And the money spent on the new router was well worth not having to deal with disconnects anymore.

Though, now I'm back on XP, lol.
