AIM recommendation

I installed the latest version of AIM, but it came with some adware.. so I uninstalled it. Is there any version or program that you guys use that doesn't have any of that crap on it?

By the way, I'm not gonna use Trillian or Gaim or any other multi IM program.. just a program dedicated to AIM.

What adware? If you uncheck the Games and Weatherbug option you should be fine ...

I didn't uncheck the games one... guess that was the problem. Will try it out again and see.

The games option installs WildTangent, which many spyware scanners pick up.

Hmm, I use GAIM for strictly AIM. It's pretty good, so try it out before you look elsewhere. =P

i like aimutation...i went to that from gaim. gaim was slick, but i didn't like a few things about it

Another vote for Trillian Pro. The folks at Cruelean studios have really put together a great program. Pay for it to show the developers what a great job they're doing.

Miranda would rock if it would allow you to move around screen names in the buddy list itself, but unfortunately, they must remain fixed in place.

I used Trillian Pro on my rig and it is nice to have one and also used Mirnada on my old laptop because Mirnada is very light less than 800K download than Trillian Pro. You can get Trillian freeware but it lacks webcam support and skin.

I never looked into miranda because I thought it was just another ICQ clone (due to the name) but now, hey... I may jump to that from trillian, as I've been using trillian for about 2 years and have never really been happy with it. Thanks mate.
