Hey guys, problem with company, 7 business days, no tracking #, talked to someone at CR today, "yours went out yesterday, our website will reflect everything today", didn't happen. They might just be slow at updating their system but might want to hold off until I get more info, will edit post again when/if I do...

Update, got my tracking# last night, service rep was responsive to email's, he wound up giving me free upgraded shipping for the delay in getting my unit out, hopefully will get here early next week..

Update, got it last monday (and it's back on sale), flashed to 1.7 firmware, if you can live with it's 800X480 display (looks OK to me) great bang/buck factor, the Boxchip processor tosses around Android 2.34 like child's play and no lag in anything so far, kinda LOL that it includes a remote that is not supported yet and the instruction manual is in Chinese but these are not much of a drawback IMO..

Personally I think I'd rather go for a refurbed Nook Color for a few more dollars for the more active community over the extra features, but that's just me.

i run that resolution on that size screen in my car. when its running its front end software (big touchy buttons and easy to read text) then its ok... but as a regular computer screen for normal tasks its awful. the worst part is windows not fitting on the screen for various programs... it makes it unusable. i just get frustrated and run it out of native at 1024x768. at least things fit on screen

Lot's of tablets are featuring HDMI out nowadays, also price is now $10 more, sale has ended but still a good deal IMO, I paid $170 for my wife's Coby Kyros 7022, (512,4 gig, 1ghz) and this looks much faster. Was looking for a "10 tab but for a cap. touch anything decent was $225+, mine's on order so I'll bump the thread when it get here and review it, it's a drop-ship from China so it'll be awhile before I get it.

fire is lame - no cameras, no mic, no bluetooth, no sd card. matter of fact if you submit an app that uses any of those features for fire they will deny it lol.

dual core for what? taking pics? iris(siri like?) skype? google voice? oh wait no it can't do any of those.

I'm not sure how corporate perks works, I'm not in IT or administration so I don't know if I'll qualify. Yea, folks are wondering how hard it's gonna be to separate the Fire from Amazon, if it winds up being a huge pain to root or load the apps you want it will drive away sales despite it's specs. Lenovo would probably have an advantage with support and firmwares ect because they are such a big laptop player already with infrastructure in place that a company like Ainol does not. That's not to say their product is "junk" though, by all accounts this seems to be a well-built tablet, I'm sure Lenovo's tablet are made in...China? and base memory of 2 gig is a joke, our old POS Pandigitial had that much hell, $80 resistive tablets on e-bay usually have 4gig..

What is "mkv"?, this unit has an HDMI port, you would not be using USB port to output video...

mkv is matroska video. Its a container commonly used for hd video rips and can contain multiple subtitle and audio tracks.

I'm pretty sure he meant use an ext usb memory disk or usb hdd connected to the usb port which would contain his video files and then use the player to output those videos over hdmi. From what I have read on the device it has usb host functionality so usb memory sticks and usb hdd should be accessible to the device.

I'm going to be ordering a NOVO8 next month so I'll be testing the usb memory disk to see if that works.

I believe it's 1ghz until the firmware upgrade comes out.....

This tab doesn't GPS but there are lots of them that do, Flytouch3 is one example although that a "10 resistive pad that's slower than this model..

Im assuming that this tablet will come with the 1.5 firmware. The 1.7 firmware is already out and most people say its makes a big difference. http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/23874-firmware-ainol-novo-7-advanced-firmware-update-172-repackaged/

This tablet does NOT come with google marketplace by default, but if you root the tablet you can install it.

There is supposed to be a big official update coming out soon that will have native Marketplace support.

I wonder if this device will get honeycomb...
