Who thinks this is a better deal than T-Mo's regular plans? I just switched to T-Mo and I'm thinking about switching to AIO for the better coverage.

Is anyone looking forward to using AIO?

T-Mobile is $60 for 2.5GB, this is $55 for 2GB.

T-Mobile also offers monthly payments for a new phone.

Not a bad deal though.

They are having a promo. If you sign up and pay for 2 months, the 3rd month is free.

Taking that into account over a year it's like you pay on average $50/month.

Gotcha! See his wording got me confused. That's what I thought he was getting at, but it just wasn't clear to me.

I just bought a Moto X from AT&T off contract, and I was debating between AIO and GoPhone. As far as I can tell, AIO throttles to 8 mbps on LTE, and 4 mbps on HSPA+, and gophone doesn't throttle (you get same theoretical max speed on gophone as contract AT&T, but contract users get first priority).

The $60/2 GB plan on GoPhone ends up costing about $54.60 after CallingMart discount/code/reward, and there are no taxes/fees. So the monthly price is basically the same between the two carriers. It boils down to:

AIO: PRO-3rd month free, soft cap at 2GB (after that it throttles to 2G but you still get data)
CON-4g/LTE are always throttled

GoPhone: PRO-No throttling on 4g/LTE
CON-Hard cap at 2GB

Pretty minor differences, but they might matter to some people. I chose GoPhone just because I had to call support to port my number, and I figured AIO support would be slammed on their first day of nationwide sales. The GoPhone support was clearly outsourced, but they were fast and helpful (unlike any Verizon support experience I've ever had).

I'm getting 8 mbps on HSPA+ on GoPhone in my area, so AIO would be about half the speed. Either one is plenty fast for anything you should be doing on a phone with a 2GB data cap though.

I get 12Mbps with T-Mobile 4G, 37Mbps with LTE. Going from that to 4Mbps would be noticeable when web browsing.

There are people getting those kind of speeds on GoPhone in metro areas, so GoPhone would have a serious advantage over AIO for you. Out here in the sticks, 8mbps vs. 4mbps weighed about as heavily in my decision as 2GB hard cap vs. 2 GB soft cap. In the end it just came down to timing; I didn't want to be a guinea pig on AIO's first day of nationwide service.

Oh I'm doing just fine with T-Mobile.

Even with the throttling, this AIO isn't a bad deal if T-Mobile doesn't have good reception where are you.

Both AIO and GoPhone are operated by AT&T, they aren't MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) like Net10/Virgin Mobile/etc. So they have full access to AT&T's network (because they ARE AT&T), and I believe they will roam on other GSM networks just like an AT&T contract customer would.

I'm really debating on it, too. I just switched over to T-Mobile, and while I get some quick speeds here and there, I sometimes only have 3G or Edge, and sometimes I have absolutely no signal whatsoever. I never got that on Verizon. I'd at least have some signal mostly everywhere.

I'll pay attention to it over the next couple of days to see if I really want to stick with T-Mo or switch to this before I lose that 3rd month of free service.

Last thing! Right now, my bill would come out to $60 for 500 MB on T-Mo (that includes taxes). Compared to $55 for 2 GB on GoPhone/AIO or $70 for 7 GB at a throttled speed. Bah! Tough decisions!

So AIO is AT&T's equivalent of T-Mobile's GoSimpleMobile, correct?

I wonder if 2GB/mo data is enough for my simple needs. I mostly browse mobile news/tech/auto news sites, sometimes e-mail, some Google maps, some Google searches and that's it, maybe 30 minutes a day?

I don't know abut AIO but GoPhone definitely doesn't roam, and have exactly the same access as AT&T MVNOs.

Personally I'd be paying a $200 ETF to leave AT&T but it's essentially $130 if you factor in that free 3rd month from AIO as I'd be getting the $70 plan.

This comes from a few people over at HowardForums regarding AIO:

AIO handles customer service like you're a tier 1 customer, so they have tech support, phone support, and handle warranty issues like ATT post-paid. You can message their twitter account and get help immediately. GoPhone customers are not seen as priority customers and you are basically transferred to India for any problems. You paying for that service with AIO.

On the other hand AIO sends all their data through a proxy (high pings) and apparently cannot do SMS short-codes. AIO is a lot like a premium MVNO.

Keep in mind since AIO uses a different apn, it likely has a lower priority than post-paid. Gophone uses the same apn as post-paid so that isn't an issue. Priority could be am issue in congested areas.

Hmm. Possibly. I pay $70 / month right now for AT&T including fees because of my corporate discount. So I'd really just switch to this and get capped.

I'd rather take my phone subsidy every 2 years and sell that off or give it to my parents.
