739/739 queue now on Azphel.
The bad thing is they let the personal shop stay open forever ( encourage since Chinese Aion charge by hour) so people just use that to by pass the queue. I'm pretty sure the personal shops don't even affect by the server crash. Azphel crashed yesterday and when I got back in, there were still tons of AFK shop in town.

How long does it take to get to max level in this game for a moderate player, say 2-3 hrs a day?

It will be a very long time if you only play 2 to 3 hours a day. Think of Aion as original WoW when it went live even then I would say it takes a lot more time than that due to the need of grouping.

While the queues certainly do suck I'm willing to tough out the initial rush until things get more smooth. Even years after release some WoW servers had Q's going, and Aion seems really popular so I'm just glad it doesn't have too many servers and not enough players like WAR did.

But yet half the people who do get online don't log off. They just set up their bazaar mule (think EQ1) so the queues never move. I sat there for 20 minutes and I was still 2294 in the queue out of 2294 in the queue.

Thanks for NCSoft for creating and designing a game that nobody can play.

WTF are they thinking emulating the worst auction system ever invented in EQ1? Well maybe DAoC was a little worse. I thought I read they had an auction house like WoW?

I think it has to do with the Asian market where people pay by the hour. I agree that it doesn't make sense in the US though.

The funniest part is there is a fully working searchable auction house - the personal shops really do serve no purpose in the US version

people are defending them tho so they can use them to bypass the queue

So I'm guessing botting is going to be a huge problem in this game being that I already hear people in my office talking about how their leveling right now...

I know someone in my office was talking about the gold farmers already starting. Won't be long before Susanexpress starts spamming.

Yeah i saw people botting on monday, they had a nice pattern going, would tab to nearest mob, attack, rest, continue.... tried to report but that feature didn't seem to be working (/authuntreport or something like that)

Well the KOR and chinese servers have a WoW style auction house as well, the private stores are just a legacy feature left in the game I think. Every Korean MMO I've played has had them, I think they jsut saw no reason to remove it, I guess they didn't foresee the whole queue loophole. It would be pretty nice if they would disable private stores for a month or two and then re-instate them.

I got to lvl 14 last night, found some DPS to group with on my templar and that helped a ton, templars are really hard to die with but killing thing takes along ass time compared to any DPS class.

^^ this

The auction house works fine. I can't really think of a reason to have the personal auctions in the game at all, from a company standpoint.

yeah.. player shops are a korean thing.

I've been playing with the Goons on azphel. First character was a lvl 13 gladiator, but I had some time to play and didn't want to pass up my friend, so I made a templar. I like the templar better (he's lvl 15 now) and I've decided to make him my main.

I didn't hit login queues until last night; but that was because when I logged in on Sunday and Monday it was early enough to avoid the queues. The queues seem to start at around 4pm.. yesterday at 4:30 there was an 800 person queue last night and at 6pm, when I tried logging in, it was up to 1800. Took like 90 minutes to get through it, but I spent my time in queue reading the aionsource forums (and laughing at the pubbies).

I did leave an AFK shop open this morning, with overpriced goods. If someone buys it all then I'll happily wait in the queue tonight. But yeah, right now player shops really only serve as a way for people to avoid the login queue. I figure if all the afk-shops were offline, then there wouldn't be much of a queue. I don't think it would get rid of it entirely, but I do think it would cut it down a bit.

It's pretty fun thus far. Crafting surprisingly is a blast, I'm playing on Marachuten because it is one of the least populated East coast servers.

Malevolent- Spiritmaster on Elyos side if anyone wants to hit me up.

Is the only place to pick up crafting skills in the main city? I haven't tried it yet and I've fallen behind on collecting on my guy now..lol. I was thinking of getting armorsmithing or something like that, would probably work out nicely for a templar.

As far as I can tell, Yes.

You can take most of the skills up to like 399/450. Then you can only master two.

Crafting is extremely time consuming. Reminds me of the best system ever (SWG to me) it has the potential to become that, so hopefully they improve on Aion's current formula.

I like the idea of critting on a craft to produce a variety of quality items. For example..you crit on making Silver Earings and they become Shining Silver Earings that have a nice stat boost to them over standard earings.

Lots of bad information floating around here lately...

1) The Personal Shop is not an alternative to the AH but a supplement. You are able to sell stacks of items at a personal shop and people can buy whatever quantity they want at your per unit price (shift-right click), which makes it a great way to sell consumables especially when you can set up shop anywhere. It's also a convenient way to sell lower priced gear that you don't want to take up some of your limited vendor slots with. Yes some people are abusing it to stay logged on, but many are using it for it's suggested purpose.

2) Server queues are very intentional and largely artificial at this point. NCSoft is trying to balance population amongst the servers and that simply can't work unless they use server queues to move the people who don't really care about their server choice to a lower population server. They're also adding servers and they have already said that they will be increasing some of the soft caps shortly. If the queues exist after the first week on anything but Siel then I'd say there is a problem, but it's way too early to be complaining about it.

3) You can view the list of all the /commands by looking in the help menu under commands.

Ugh, they've got to get rid of those shops, if only for the improved aesthetics. What's the point of pouring resources into developing the artistic visuals of places like Sanctum if you can't even see past the carpet of personal shop billboards.

reminds me of this

I guess I've been lucky thus far with my exeperience. I picked a lower population server with my buddies, and never had to deal with any sort of queue. The game runs smoothly without any hickups. I was curious how my CE's "first free month" comes into play, but I guess it was recognized automatically, and I will only get charged at the begining of my 2nd month.

The character creation stage is fun. Alot like Mass Effect, with even more controls.

So far so good.
