Looks like Air America Radio is going to file bankruptcy very soon, probably as soon as Friday. They've had a hard time getting it together, and not near the power behind the scene that those right wing stations have that carry Rush and O Riley. Naturally Rush and O Riley will be doing the happy dance over this.

But this does not mean they will go off the air. American Airlines went bankrupt also and they are still flying.

Al Franken is the corner stone of Air America programming. Looks like he will have more reason to make that run for the senate in MN in 2008.
If I were Al, I'd follow Bill Maher's path and go to HBO or ShowTime.

This isn't the first time for them. They nearly shut down a while back too. They'll get reorganized, solicit more donations from some wealthy patrons and figure it out.

If they actually went off the air I'd be surprised.

Actually old AL talked about this on his show today 9/14.
He did not know if it would be bankruptcy this Friday, or when.

But he did not deny they were in big trouble, and gave the impression that was to happen at some point soon.

Especially when he said "we are not going anywhere. After all, American Airlines is still flying".

So that kinda tells you, unless something happens financially real soon, bankruptcy is their only option.

And "hate'? Rush and-or Rove have cornered the "hate" talk here. Please...really...

I think it should be obvious that AA going off the air would be exactly the same as some Republican talk show being shut down. They're both mouthpieces for their party's extreme, nothing more, nothing less.

Although, I did enjoy Al Franken.

Rush has about 600 affiliates. hmmmm

Interesting fact I did not know, Rush has as many listeners as Oprah has TV viewers.

I doubt Air America will go off the air, to many people on the left have to much to lose if that happens. All though money does talk and maybe their money sources will get tired of losing it so fast.

BTW: did you know Al Franken makes between 1 and 2 million a year, that is a TON of money for someone only on 87 stations. No wonder they are in trouble.

I actually admire Savage. Unlike Rush, Hannity, and the other republican tools, he's a little more independant and rarely echoes the republican party.

There are some talk radio programs I listen to and enjoy. Bill Handel on KFI640 out of Los Angeles and John & Ken occasionally. I'd listen to Jim Rome if I could get the damned station he moved to on my radio at work. I also listen to NPR occasionally because you sometimes get decent world news. That's about it.
