man, how the hell did people get anything done before A/C was invented? the last few days have been hot as hell here and when i'm sweating just sitting in my chair, I don't feel like doing sh!t.

i couldn't imagine living in places like Texas or Arizona without A/C.

There's this thing called water. It helps keep you cool too.

Now you know why cowboys were always getting drunk and shooting at things.

Here in Texas, the AC stays on pretty much year round, with the exception of about 2 weeks when it gets cold... In the winter, it isn't set really cold, but I rarely have to turn on the heat. I can't imagine living up north... I've been to Great Lakes, IL for months at a time, andi t was horrible.

Its not the heat...its the humidity to a point. I have been to Las Vegas when its 90 degrees at 11pm....but then in the DC area yesterday it was 85 but very humid so you step outside and start to sweat.

I do agree that A/C rocks!

I always loved watching the old westerns where the hero and villians would be riding out in the hot desert sun all day long wearing wool pants, a thick shirt and tie, and jacket... yet they look like they haven't dropped a single bead of sweat...

I've never had air conditioning. It's funny how you never really get used to outrageously incapacitating heat and humidity, it remains irritating throughout your entire life. Someday I'll have AC...

Agreed. Although with a twenty year old AC unit, watching the wheel in the outside meter spin fast is scary. Makes things much much more comfortable, but damn the bank account is going to take a hit.

i don't really like the a/c. to cold and annoying for me, besides it wastes a lot of energy. i don't use the a/c unless its really hot and humid outside, and even then i set it at 80f

My point was that people probably kept cool by using water before A/C was around .

At 110 though the A/C starts to feel desirable

Can you image how much energy we would be saving, if there were no A/C?

That's one sacrifice I'm not willing to make.

Arid and hot places like Arizona aren't that bad, really. While it's 90F to over 100 in the summer, the humidity is ultra low, like 10% or less. Your sweat evaporates almost instantly, removing your body heat with it.

Without AC I would definatly die.

It gets close to 100 with humidity over 90% by chicago. That is death weather.

Personally, any time it's more then about 77deg F with humidity I use the AC in my car and home.

That being said, I don't turn on the heat until it gets below 58F. I conserve energy in the winter, but in the summer, I keep cool. I fvckjing HATE hot weather.

i was just mentioning this to a friend of mine the other day, i guess it was only because of the extreme smog we have in T.O. it feels like a tropical hot breeze as there is sun beating down on you
