On this president's day, a reminder - air force one wasn't really much special before JFK - the president would have an air force plane he'd fly as I recall.

There was a designer who met with Kennedy and they went over ideas and it resulted in the iconic design used ever since famous around the world.

No other world leader has had comparable travel.

When the British Prime Minister flew over to visit Kennedy, their country was having difficulties and 'he'd have a stale ham sandwich' on the uncomfortable flight.

I've seen it from a distance several times as Obama loved coming to Michigan to personally screw up my daily commute but haven't gotten that close. I think engineering like that is very interesting. Got a chance to walk through the old one at the Reagan library and really enjoyed it

You can also see one and tour it Kennedy used at the Seattle airport. Not in great shape though.
