Used to own a RWS Model 52 .177 Cal. w/ 4X Bushnell Air rifle scope and Beamam scope stop. With Beaman pellets that thing was deadly to 50yds. on ground squirrels and rabbits. Most fun i ever had hunting was varmint hunting with that thing. Trust me, when it comes to small-bore air rifles, velocity is everything. Enjoy

Slower .22 or faster .177? IMO, get the .177 for target/plinking, but the .22 for hunting. If the gun is zeroed for the distances it will shoot at, it will hit the target. The .22 will retain energy better, hitting the target harder, doing more damage. If you don't have it, download the "ChairGun" ballistics software and compare the calibers at their respective speeds. A search on Google for "chairGun download" will get it for you. I would say caliber selection depends on what you will use the gun for.

I miss my old Crossman 10x-pump BB/pellet gun...with a pretty decent scope...could split pencils at 50+feet...or go through both sides of a full pop-can at same range.

Gave my arm the best workout possible until I hit puberty....

Local wildlife? Didn't shoot any...not my type of fun. Well...I'd shoot the ground next-to the cats....upto 4 houses away....scare the **** outta them

From the Airgun Express catalog:

Beman RX-2 (close to your specs)
.177 @ 1125FPS = 19.9FP muzzel energy
.22 @ 860FPS = 20.8FP muzzle energy

I wouldn't put much stock in the Chinese Tech Force specs., from what I read, they usually don't live up to their advertised speeds. However, the newer models like the XS-B40 are much better quality and are getting good press. The B40 is a TX-200 clone at half the price.
