AirAsia flight from Indonesia to Singapore missing

An AirAsia flight travelling from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore has lost contact with air traffic control, the company has said.

Indonesian media say 162 people were on board.

The aircraft, flight number QZ8501, lost contact with air traffic control just after 07:00am local time, AirAsia tweeted.

Considering the speed and altitude graph just ends, it must've come apart at whatever altitude it was cruising at. But it should indicate some kind of loss in altitude and speed during break up /if/ that was the case. Some instruments and telemetry systems will still be working and reporting, even during break up in mid flight I would figure unless it was a complete, utter, full on disintegration all at once (which I doubt).

These online flight trackers you need to take with a grain of salt.. they are not always that accurate.

Obviously those statistics would immediately end when communication or observation are lost. A plane doesn't have to break apart to lose the ability to transmit such details.
