Got my PAL8045 this morning, nice packaging, they even threw in a plastic ball with a US flag decal on it. But they should have enclosed a Dremel tool to help make this big boy fit. Problems with AK31 series mobos, there are lots of surface mount components real close the the holes around the socket, and the small nylon washers enclosed with the Alpha may crush these little widgets if you over tighten the standoffs. Plus, theres the question of how far you can make that big green capacitor lean over and how you can chop off the north bridge heat sink mounting lug. Well, I pulled out my handy Dremel tool and went to work grinding away these offending areas on the Alpha, got enough material removed to install the biggie and breathlessly put everything back into my case. Test time. TBird 1.333@1.411, 33.1 cfm Sunon, 27c case temp, 44c idle, 49c after 10 minutes of Prime95 torture. Ho-Hum, only 3c better than my PAL6035 with a 19 cfm Sanyo-Denki.
