I think you're confusing "voting for Trump because the prospect of Hillary seems even worse" with "voting for Trump because I approve of his personal dealings and moral values".

For the record, I voted for neither of them because I can't stomach either of them.

Whether they portray themselves as the party of family values or not doesn't affect how bad the actions are. It makes someone a hypocrite if they espouse family values while engaging in these sleazy activities, but it doesn't change the severity of the inappropriate behavior.

Oh, I'm not saying that every Trump voter endorses his behavior. But it's baffling that there are self-proclaimed Christians who voted for Trump on moral grounds... moral grounds! Apparently, cheating on wives, groping women and exhibiting unfettered greed is okay so long as you treat LGBT people as subhuman and force women to raise children they never intended to have.

Isn't it true that alpha males of every species have access to MANY more females than beta males? For a male to deny his natural instinct (to stick his dick into the first hole he can find) is not nearly the problem for betas due to the lack of willing holes. Wilt Chamberlain shagged more than 5,000 women, that feat is an impossibility for 99.999% of the male population, they simply could never attract that many willing females.

Nothing new. People who claim to be religious turning out to be hypocrites who cherry pick their belief system to suit their own ends is par for the course with much of the religious. Look how useful a tool it is for the Republican party. They don't have actually do anything to get a huge number of votes. Just say abortion bad, other religions bad and gay marriage bad. Simply making those declarative statements nets them a large number of votes. Useful idiots.

Is that any different than the feminists who support(ed) Bill Clinton even though he's been accused of sexual assault by several women and even rape? Feminists that support Hillary despite how she treated her husbands accusers?

People find ways to justify their position and who they support no matter if it makes sense or not.

Chill on the hyperbole. I don't know any conservative who wants to treat LGBT people as subhuman. Being against abortion does not equal forcing women to raise children they never intended to have. That kind of hyperbole makes having honest discussions difficult. No need to vilify or ridicule the other position when you disagree with it.

Republicans have been known to eat their own.

While true, they also put Mark Sanford back in office after learning he spent Father's Day with his Argentine mistress. Old age might be a bigger threat to Bentley's career.

I'm done expecting the family values crowd to react honorably when their principles are shit on by someone with the magic (R), and that was before Dump took the White House.

There is a difference between facts about Trump & innuendo about the Clintons.

Your mock piety is duly noted, however.

But it does add hypocrisy to the list, no?

Bill Clinton is a rapist and settled with a woman for $800,000.00 I think because he innherendo.

Heh. That never was the contention wrt Paula Jones. The contention was that he'd sexually harassed her after she turned him down. It was a put-up job that Clinton handled poorly. Once he'd been disgraced, her lawyers settled in a flash for a big payday.

Which has nothing to do with Bentley other than maybe both of them being Southerners.

Innuendo? There were at least 7 women who accused Bill of harassment, assault and in one case, rape. That's not innuendo, that's fact. We don't know if what each alleges is true or not.

So all seven accusers are just making it up? Seems unlikely.

I apologize for derailing the thread about the AL governor, back to the subject of the thread.

Subject being, why do Republicans have such a hard time practicing what they preach?

Kind of like democrats having such a hard time paying taxes even though they constantly push higher ones? Or pushing for equal pay while paying women on their staff less? Or pushing for higher wages and at the same time pushing for more illegals to pay min wage (or less!) to do the job, and paying their own campaign staff min wage? Or claiming to push tolerance and while being intolerant? Hypocrisy doesn't care about party lines, it's abundant everywhere.

Because he was bordering on kiddie porn/pedophilia. I guess Bill Maher is the only one that gets free pass on supporting pedophilia.

first: tell me how Maher supports pedophilia
second: show me where Maher has been elected, much less run, to public office.

Rationalize it away, good plan.

Somehow this poor republican governor is yet another victim of the evil democrats. The party of personal responsibility is never responsible.

It's funny that paying Taxes came up.....lol....still waiting on those returns!

Well, support for Bill Clinton has fallen and isn't really justifiable. And let's face it, Hillary as flawed as she has been is still a much, much, much better champion of women's rights than Trump... or Johnson, or McMullin, and possibly Stein.

Few of them will actually say they want to treat LGBT people that way, but that's how they act. When you deny a transgender person use of a bathroom that reflects their gender identity, you're effectively telling them that they can't use public bathrooms like everyone else. When you say same-sex marriage shouldn't be legal, you believe that LGBT people aren't allowed to express love the same way you do. When you treat homosexuality as nothing but a choice, or gender dysphoria as something that has to be suppressed, you inherently paint LGBT people as inferior and broken, rather than just different. So yes, anti-LGBT conservatives are treating these people as less than equal -- they just couch it in euphemistic terms, such as protecting women from (virtually non-existent) bathroom attacks or "preserving traditional marriage."

And if you're against abortion, you're forcing women to raise children they didn't intend to have. Full stop. If a woman gets pregnant simply because a condom broke, preventing her from having an abortion means she's going to have a kid she didn't plan for. If she gets pregnant through rape, you're insisting that she carry the consequences of that rape to term. This is not hyperbole; this is basic logic.

The term "subhuman" might be overly harsh, but at the same time, I'm tired of people masking their hatreds with soft language, or acting as if anti-abortion views don't have obvious consequences (even if you're content with those consequences). They're trying to have their cake and eat it too -- they want to impose their irrational, hate-filled views on everyone, but they're hoping you won't call them out on it.

Mason later resigned. But her husband, former TV weatherman Jonathan Mason, still works for Bentley as the $91,400-a-year head of a state agency called Serve Alabama. The three were all apparently chummy enough to attend President Donald Trump's inauguration together, local Alabama media reported.

Bentley is a father of four and grandfather of six from Tuscaloosa who sometimes teaches Sunday school. His ex-wife, Dianne Bentley, filed for divorce in August 2015, declaring that their marriage "has suffered an irretrievable breakdown."

Well um.
Local news just got turned into a script...

Apparently you're not quite grasping what "rationalizing" means. I merely pointed out that the democrats have just as much trouble practicing what they preach as the pubbies do. That's not rationalizing in any way shape or form.

you are a lying and disgusting human, do you have anything to say about the AL governor?

you know, the subject of the thread.
I'm afraid you got me mixed up with one of your 2 ex-Presidents, either Obama or Bill Clinton. Nice try though.
