Alabama has been doing it in a consistent fashion. That's why they've vaulted from being unranked to being #8 before this game.

vs Tulane - W 20-6 (home)
vs W. Kentucky - W 41-7 (home)
vs Arkansas - W 49-14 (away)

They probably won't be #1 after this game but there's no way you can say Bama hasn't done it in a consistent fashion.
