So, I am in need of some alarm clocks for my house. I ahve one that is nice:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-di...lack/9809562.p?id=1218177249307&skuId=9809562

The problem is that it is $50. And the two new ones are for my kids. Actually, the price is not an issue. The clock I ave is WAY to bright at night. But I like everythin else about it, especially the digital tuner.

Also, I've had cheap Wal-Mart clocks in the past. They loose a few minutes a day. total garbage.

So, I want:
1) Digital Tuner
2) low light intensity display
3) name brand.

I am currently considering this for my kids:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-am...lver/4801004.p?id=1219103677955&skuId=4801004

But it is $60. And it uses a watch battery as a backup battery. I find this kind of daft.

So if anyone has a good alarm clock that miht suit my needs, please tell me all about it. $50 is pushing it but ya, I'd probably go $60 or $70 seeing these devices should last 20 years. My daughter was using the one I had in high school (30 years old) but the clock is no longer keeping good time. It was a radio shack branded alarm clock I think (Realistic). Thing was awesome!!!!!!

I use my phone. I haven't had an alarm since before I got my iPhone. I used the same one from the time I was 5 until I was 18 or 19.

A lot of people like these but Sony support it pretty bad.

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ICFCL75I...UTF8&qid=1460083840&sr=1-2&keywords=sony+dash

Because they rely on Sony servers for operation, every so ofter Sony changes its server address, the clock displays an error, and owners of these gadgets go for weeks until Sony eventually and finally provides an update. Resulting in a lot of pissed off Sony customers.

I have one of the below clock in a spare/guest bedroom.
I like it and it does inside-outside temps.

Ignore the bad reviews. Mine has worked great.

LOL, i still use a radio shack LED 7 segment POS that I had from the '80s. The buttons on the top are getting iffy, but it still works.

But those alarms are from the devil. Ugh I hate that noise when they go off.

I use my cell phone with some sort of music to wake me up. Anything loud or startling gets me up with a start and in a bad mood.

Yeah, it scares the hell out of me when it goes off, which is good and bad.

My wife and I rarely use it as a normal alarm clock because it is very jarring, but when we are traveling at early hours, it's there for the backup alarm.

I just like the old fashioned red LED 7 seg display for the clock in our bedroom. It's got a 2 level brightness control too

Get whatever from the thrift shop, and counciling for the time obsession issue. Unless you're professionally calculating astronomical data, even the cheapest piece of Chinese shit keeps time well enough.

Nope,

I had a clock in my basement brand new. Thing a month after setting it was 30-60 minutes off. Loosing over a minute a day is not "well enough". It's enough to make you realize that some companies make horribly bad shit.

You must have really bad luck with clocks. We have three or four cheap alarm clocks from the Wal Marts and none of them lose time at all really. Maybe a minute over a six month period or so, at which time it needs to be reset anyhow for DST. I don't think we have paid more than $15 for any of them. My car loses more time than my alarm clock.

I just bought the one you linked to and like it. (It was $50 on Amazon when I bought it). The reason I got it though was for the "nature" sounds to take the place of running a loud fan just for the noise. The projector feature is nice too so that both people in the bed can see what time it is on the ceiling.

If you don't need either of those features I don't see why you'd get something this pricey.
