The charge never should’ve been brought, especially after the civil case was resolved amicably with the cinematographer’s husband.

In pro-gun hunting states, hunter's often get probation for unintentionally killing others. It's usually a misdemeanor offense, unless they were committing other crimes such as poaching, did not have a hunting license, were prohibited felons, intoxication was involved. And these are case where the expectation and duty to care legally is on the hunter, unlike an actor on a movie set who is under the direction of a designated armorer or safety officer that was approved by an interested party that really hates accidents - insurance company/underwriter that will be on the hook for liability.
