Do you know for sure that the winning team isn't doing anything wrong? If you do, then I stand corrected. If not, calm the fuck down and try to apply some logic. There's absolutely nothing wrong with asking a question, which is essentially what the complaint really is - a formal question. If they did nothing wrong, then nothing will happen. I'm not advocating for the pussification of America, but you guys seem to forget when it comes to kids and schools that people are assholes at all ages. I have no problem with asking the question, but I do have a problem if a reprimand is issued when the team did nothing wrong. That would be pussification, but we aren't there yet. Get your fucking panties out of a twist.

If the parent of the player who filed the complaint was at the game, he saw the following:

Buchanan said he pulled his starters on offense after 21 snaps and that a running clock was implemented in the third quarter. Aledo’s quarterbacks combined for 10 pass attempts.

Aledo, The Associated Press' No. 1-ranked Class 4A team in the state, led 56-0 at the half and went on to the lopsided victory despite playing mostly second- and third-team players in the final two quarters. Buchanan said he had his punt returner fair-catch balls after he had two long returns (including a touchdowns) in the first half. He put in his backups and simplified the playbook, but that didn't stop his team from scoring points in bunches.

there are no grounds for this and this parent just made it a farce of the system used to try and protect actual students being bullied.

Aledo (Texas) football coach Tim Buchanan said the district has completed its investigation and found "no grounds" for bullying after a parent from the losing team filed a complaint following Aledo's 91-0 win over Fort Worth Western Hills on Friday.

Basically the district was forced to investigate because bullying is srsbsns. Glad to see this was handled properly.

hope the fathers name is not reviled. IF so i feel for the kid.

losing 90-0 to a powerhouse team that usually wins by 70. ok not a huge deal.

having everyone know that your dad is a fucking pussy and tries to fight battles for you? even worse.

The saddest part of this whole thing is that now it is national news, and that team knows that they truly suck BALLS. Streisand effect for the win, and parent stupidity for the losssss.

Yep. From what I can tell, they're in the 4A division (divisions are determined by student population).

Playing like this, they should be moved to 5A.

When it comes down to 4A vs. 5A in Texas football or basketball, a good team is good. There are plenty of 4A teams who can smoke 5A teams.

I've often thought high schools need a "dynasty rule".
Something like, Make state (playoffs) 3 out of 5 years, get bumped up a division for at least 4 years.

hmm not a bad idea but not 4 years. 4 years in high school is a long time. maybe 2.

I remember going up against a private school that would dominate EVERYONE. it was a small school but they always had good kids in football and basketball.

I feel sorry for the kid that had his Father file the complaint. you know the other students are giving him major shit for it.

I would have kept running up the score. I want triple digits baby!

And if I was asked why I did it? I would just look at them in the eye, and in all seriousness say "If you're not first, you're last."

The Aledo coach is right, you can't ever ask your own players not to play hard, but, 91-0? That game should have been stopped and declared over long before that.

That's counter productive. If a team is going to go onto the field to compete, they need to play through to the end. Anything less is quitting or pussing out.

A lot of you are swimming in the deep end on this. It's really not that ridiculous to file the complaint with the hopes of uncovering any potential wrongdoing. We have systems in place to prevent incorrect actions. If nothing wrong has been done, then nothing will happen. There's no problem with that.

Also, you don't know how the father feels about it or what he told his kid. Maybe the kid totally understands and wasn't upset about the loss. Maybe the father wasn't either, but he still wanted to go through the formal process. You don't have to like it, but it's there for a purpose.

I wouldn't complain about it personally, but there's no reason to vilify the father. There is a concept of unfair and it extends into adulthood. Yeah, kids need to learn how to exist peacefully on both sides of a competition, but there's also something to be said for teaching them to respect the outcome while also understanding that sometimes other people are assholes and there's a proper way to handle that. The fact is that we know next to nothing about the details of this situation other than some fantastical headlines and statements in a news article. The other coach admitting that the team didn't bully them is a strong indication that they didn't, but it's not conclusive.

The father is a douche for complaining /thread

There's just no sugar coating it. The dad is a sore loser.

Oh, bullshit. No one forced any of these kids to play football. They are not compelled to continue competing, other than by their own free will. Therefore, there is no unfairness involved. Unfairness is when the system is stacked against you by mandate without any recourse. Here, the recourse is to stop playing.

I don't care if the coach kept the pedal to the floor, if you're on the field to compete, then you compete understanding that the outcome can be small or large in degree of score. If you don't like it, then don't play.

I'm sick of this feeling of entitlement and fairness that everyone keeps pushing on the rest of society. They need to get over it. Kids are going to get bullied, kids are going to get beat up, people are going to get robbed, football teams are going to get beat.....

Bad stuff happens. But it's ok...get over it and move on. It's nice that the parent cares...that's important. But this shouldn't be a national story making it more apparent that their football team has no defense....AND no offense.

shit, don't like it, don't play.

This is just one team really sucking playing against a good team. Part of sport is learning about losing.
