Hey the Newegg let me post a bad review of the board, as long as I said something good as well (although they censored the title). I think I had to say something good because I did not buy the product myself. I strongly encourage all of you that are disappointed to post bad reviews of the board that are not so bad they get tossed out. Somehting like One star, "Should have got the NF7-S V2, not this board."
No profanity, no 5-star bad reviews, etc are allowed.

Newegg does carry that board - search for "NF7-S v2"

If you are not using multipliers, using faster than CAS 2.5 RAM, or need Soundstorm, this will do the trick just fine at a good price.

Another thing adding to the confusion is that if you search for NF7-S, I only get the NF7-S2 and the NF7-S2G which are the crappy boards. I only get the NF7-S if I search for "NF7-S v2" (with a space).

EDIT: Arrgh, I no longer get the product when searching for "NF7-S v2" Have to click more results link

Holy Sh*&t I was about to pull the trigger on the NF7-S2 on newegg thinking it was the NFS-7 S v2
Thanks OP!

Where can I find the NF7-S v2? neither newegg nor zipzoomfly carry it at this time.

What would be a good alternative? I want to run it with my XP-M2500+ and overclock to 3200+ but it has to be rock solid (3400+ if I can)

Good alternative would be a DFI Infinity board. Actually, it would probably be better than the NF7-S and only slightly more money.

I can't find the DFI infinity locallky and I'd like to work on it this weekend.
Would a K7N2 Delta-ILSR (NF2 ultra 400 chipset) work well to run an XP2500-M at 3200+ speeds?

I know it is a different class of motherboard but I don't want to have to wait for shipping and it seems to be the only decent motherboard I can find locally.

Newegg is having search problems they told me they are working on it.
They do have the good NF7-S v2 for $91 in stock here: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-166&depa=0

Edit: I would go with the inifinity as they are now about the same price, and the infinity gets higher FSB, has the Reloaded feature, I think can reach higher vdimm and vcore without mod or hacker bios. Plus Avalon said it means something.

Just search "NF7" and get all four variations.

the dfi is a good board but their bios support sucks...

vcore is good up to 2.0 and vdimm up to 3.2

the nf7-s allows vcore up to 2.25 i believe

nf7-s allows for higher clocks than the dfi but dfi allows for higher fsb's than the nf7-s especially w/o mods

Is it possible these things will be fixed by a hacker bios or new version official? Besides soundstorm I mean. Plus bump.

Just sent an email to the three newegg addresses:
NF7-S rev 2 and the NF7-S2 are very very different boards, yet have
extremely similar names! Considering how often different vendors will
have slightly differing naming schemes, it's nearly impossible to tell
these two apart, other than price and a detailed examination of the
available specs. Please do something and/or encourage Abit to fix
this shady naming scheme. I've submitted a product comment/review on
the S2 board to explain this to other customers.

Otherwise happy customer,
-Jim
I also added a warning as a comment/review on the cheaper board at newegg's site, let's hope it gets approved and posted.

I bought this board knowing full well what its limitations were (the other NF7 boards were beside it on show lol). Why? 'Coz it cost my £32, and I can overclock my 2500+ to a stable 440MHz FSB. I don't need soundstorm 'coz of my SB Live 5.1, don't need multiplier unlocker as I doubt my 2500 Barton will go much further, and the new BIOS release supports CL2 RAM!

However, I do agree with everyone else in the fact that Abit are very wrong in its naming scheme, and are basically trying to decieve people. They did this with their FX5200 as well, when it stated 128-bit on the box, but RivaTuner clearly stated it at 64-bit, and it was the crippled version with slower RAM too.

To be honest, this is just a board to keep me busy until I get an Athlon 64 next year.

Looking forward to the modded BIOS with multiplier changing
