No, Jones isn't crazy. He's a cynical and unscrupulous con artist who eagerly takes advantage of people who are crazy like you described.
Yeah I been trying to tell people this for years but nobody listens.
Alex Jones is NOT a true believer. He pushes a very specific propaganda and makes tons of money from it. Just like Rupert Murdoch. Just like Rush Limbaugh.
But Rush was smart enough to say very specific things. He rarely got sued and when it did happen he beat them or settled for a small amount out of court. Murdoch was smart enough to start a media empire with a propaganda network and keep himself insulated from the daily horse shit. Some of the more successful shills at Fox are Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity. But they're just paid losers and if they ever fuck up to bad they'll be left swinging in the wind. They are not true believers. They frequently reveal themselves whenever somebody doesn't bring the "right" message to the airways, thats why once in a while they get caught badmouthing people like Trump or McConnel.

These parents could always sell his debt to the Ukrainian mob at a like 50% discount. Let Alex deal with that.

The creditors (Sandy Hook Parents) had 2 competing bankruptcy proposals to vote on. Alex Jones proposed paying the Sandy Hook parents 5.5 million dollars over the next ten years. They declined that and approved the proposal where he has to sell all his assets.

The families of Sandy Hook school shooting victims voted overwhelmingly in favor of a plan to wrap up Alex Jones’ bankruptcy proceedings by liquidating the right wing talk show host’s assets.

Jones’ general unsecured creditors—comprised mostly of Sandy Hook families holding about $1.5 billion in defamation judgments against the famed conspiracy theorist—voted 100% in favor of a Chapter 11 plan that would methodically liquidate and redistribute his property and cash, while preserving potential legal actions against parties affiliated with Jones and his Infowars program.

Yup the guy certainly learned from Trump how to craft deals. He crafted the shittiest deal imaginable and is probably pissed that the creditors didn’t graciously accept and offer of one FUCKING THREE HUNDREDTH of what he is capable of paying over time.
Pure arrogance and incompetence with a side serving of assuming every one of the plaintiffs are idiots who are motivated for quick money.
Fucking moron.

A moron that still grifted his way to having way more than 5.5million. Speaks volumes of the people who would listen / fund him.

I don't think his victims were ever going to accept anything but his entire assets; there was the smallest chance that pleading for mercy and admitting guilt to them might result in them leaving something behind for him. It's a common exploitative game to ask (implicitly or otherwise) your victim to be the "bigger person".

"Don't fuck with people grieving for dead family" seems like the most obvious lesson that people bereft of empathy could learn from this.

Crocodile tears are on the menu today boys!

I didn't listen to all of it as I'm doing stuff but I do want Alex Jones to feel like that!
Not because I want him to be sad for himself but because I want him to have that moment of realisation of what he's done and what he's become.

I think we all want him to have that realization but from everything I have ever seen from him he will never come to that realization. Bro is as far off the deep end as someone can get.

At a certain point after many years of being a blithering fuckstick of a human being, gloating and profiting from the misery of others, he's not going "realize his mistake". He's sorry he got dinged for it, sure. If there's any karma in the world he'd live out his long life in pain. He might be one of the few humans objectively worse than Trump.

Can't help but wonder how he got that way, though. Did it happen very early in life, or did it take a lifetime of positive reinforcement, via rewards for horrible behavior, to mold him to be what he is?

He certainly made more money the more horribly he acted.

Yeah, I wonder, though, to what degree that kind of thing accelerates, or becomes self-perpetuating. Once you start down the route of being a sociopath-for-cash, does it become hard to change course? That becomes the _only_ way you can make money, maybe? And the money is addictive, I suppose.

people confuse money with success and happiness all the time. I think that is the self-perpetuating cause. He was probably just a regular piece of shit human (ask his ex wife), whose general miserableness he managed to monetize into hate projection. Once that started to work, and work really really well when you find a willing audience of brain-dead hateful sycophants (Republicans), the addiction to monetizing hate and exploiting the weak is like crack.

It's the easiest grift out there. He doesn't really have to do anything but be shitty and yell louder than most other people. He was doing this well before Trump dabbled in hate-politicking to save his broke and worthless ass.

This is exactly the Republican party base that this asshole warned everyone about, and they are being exploited to the exact effect that they were recruited for:

Hell, Goldwater was the most dangerous legislator in the country, in his day! But not only did he have no tolerance for the type of sociopaths that call themselves evangelicals, he also fucking new a CRIMINAL PRESIDENT when he saw one, and told Nixon to take a fucking hike as the GOP would no longer defend him.

Imagine if we still actually had a functional, conservative party in the US. That all died when they elected that fucking traitor Reagan.

I suppose that's the point that was somewhere at the back of my mind - to what degree is Jones just a random accidental bad guy, a consequence of purely personal factors in his early life, and to what degree is he an incrementally-created product of a system that actively encourages and selects for such behaviour (as with Musk or Trump and multiple others)? If the latter he himself is less important, as someone else will soon be created to fill that niche.

He took the Wall Street mantra at the time to heart. Greed is good. Which in itself is morality turned on it's head. Of course, that could be said about endless competition capitalism.
