I'm glad the courts are an aveune to counter the flase stories the right media pushes. Between these and the voting machine cases, they will think twice before spewing garbage.

Wow, what a collasal fuckup. I've never heard of attorney incompetence at that level. Jones is on the hook for perjury here, having said under oath that he couldn't find any e-mails pertaining to Sandy Hook. His attorney could be on the hook for perjury as well, if he prepared verified written discovery responses for Jones saying there were no such e-mails, when the attorney had all his client's emails.

After Jones' testimony, plaintiff's attorney is moving for sanctions against Jones and his attorney, for violating a court order precluding him from discussing his net worth, then lying on the stand, claiming that he's broke. Then claiming he complied with all discovery requests, which he did not. Said the judge:

“Mr. Jones, you may not say to this jury that you complied with discovery. That is not true. You may not say it again. You may not tell this jury that you are bankrupt. That is also not true,” Gamble said.

“You are already under oath to tell the truth,” Gamble added. “You’ve already violated that oath twice today, in just those two examples. It seems absurd to instruct you again that you must tell the truth while you testify. Yet here I am again.”

“This is not your show,” Gamble added.

Not only did he perjure himself in his discovery responses, but he just perjured himself twice in court today, a fact acknowledged in open court by the judge. He's so screwed right now. B-bye dickhead.

Alex Jones must think this is some 200 IQ play by fucking up so royally in court to claim victimhood in order to bilk his supporters through some kind of GoFundMe campaign.

I'm just waiting for the "mentally insane" angle to avoid jail time. Lock him up and throw away the key.

Those defenses almost never work and even if they do, you do not avoid jail time or at least what amounts to jail time.

If you are found not guilty due to insanity you go to a psychiatric facility for criminals, which is basically jail. The only difference is you have no control over if you ever get out. Basically the only positive thing about a successful insanity plea is you can't be put to death. Everything else about it is largely worse than just going to regular jail.

I checked on this, and was surprised to find a statistic which says that insanity defenses have worked 26% of the time (but are only used in 1% of criminal cases). However, the same source also said that 90% of the successful defenses involved defendants who were previously diagnosed with serious mental illness before the crime occurred.

AFAIK, Jones has never been diagnosed with anything like schizophrenia. There was an expert in his divorce proceeding who said that Jones likely has narcissistic personality disorder, but I'm afraid that having narcissistic personality, which in common parlance roughly equates to being a fucking asshole, isn't going to give any support for this kind of defense. "I'm sorry, either due to a genetic accident or questionable parenting, I'm a fucking asshole, and that's why I lied. Please have mercy on me and put me in a loony bin instead."

That is surprising how often they work! Also if I'm not mistaken as you allude to in your first paragraph to get away with this shit you can't be run of the mill crazy, you need to be pretty seriously nuts.

Yes I was surprised as well. But since the defense is used only 1% of the time, you can surmise that it isn't attempted often for that very reason. You need to have been established as totally nuts even before the crime occured. And if you use the defense unsuccessfully, you've certainly given up the standard "I didn't do it" defense, so most attorneys will tell you not to even try it without good medical evidence to back it up.

Anyway, I can't imagine it ever being a defense to a perjury charge. Insanity does not make you lie in a calculated way as Jones did here. It makes you delusional.

I find it amusing that the plaintiff's attorney advised Jones of his 5A rights and he didn't even blink. Just kept on talking lol
