Like most socialist organizations, DSA believes in the abolition of capitalism in favor of an economy run either by “the workers” or the state — though the exact specifics of “abolishing capitalism” are fiercely debated by socialists.

..
In practice, that means DSA [members advocate] ending private ownership of a wide range of industries whose products are viewed as “necessities,” which they say should not be left to those seeking to turn a profit.

..
While both DSA and some left-wing Democrats agree that the government should provide universal health insurance, DSA ultimately wants to nationalize hospitals, providers, and the rest of the health care system as well. While both will work toward higher taxes on Wall Street, DSA ultimately wants to nationalize the entire financial sector.

She says she’s a member of the DSA, is she a liar?

They have great ideals that will never do more than alter capitalism to better serve the masses than just the elite few. At most they'll achieve a new New Deal.

It's not cheap, never thought it was but you gotta pay to play. It's one of the greatest states in the nation. In less than 20 minutes I can be in midtown Manhattan, NYC, the greatest most diverse city on the planet. In an hour and change south I can be at some nice beaches. I can head 30 minutes north and be at a wonderful state park. In 1-2 hours both north and west I can be in some massive state park systems from Harriman to Delaware Water Gap to the Catskills, with backpacking and all kinds of activities. It's also only a 5 hour flight to London.

Tough to beat IMO. It's one of the best areas to live in the country, if you make decent coin and take advantage of what it has to offer. If you just stay out in the burbs and don't take advantage of the city and nature areas nearby then you may as well think about moving elsewhere. But I would take my 740 square foot 2BR condo close to NYC over 2,000 sq feet in Anywhere, North Carolina any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
That all sounds wonderful except for the part about living in New Jersey.

Highest outbound move state in the country. New Jersey is known for many things, quality of life is not one of them.

hmmmm. most populated metro area in the country by a landslide. so they are all wrong.

how do you define quality of life anyway? you are going to tell me that my quality of life is poor because I pay more for housing and gas? Please educate me on how I should re-evaluate my quality of life.

What are the top 5 places to live in the US based upon quality of life to you?

There are surveys and data for these things. NJ is, well, lets just say not doing great:

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/quality-of-life

I used to live in NY and the only thing that made living there bearable was the knowledge that I didn’t live in Jersey.

My top five places: Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Italy. We do quality of life wrong in America.

There isn't a person alive that can't be made to look demonic, stupid, or a creeper if you have a slow motion camera and 5 minutes to snap a ton of pictures. I probably look like this the entire time I watch the new Sasha Baren Cohen videos.

I agree that Europe 'seems' to have a better grasp of quality of life and life-work balance but this conversation was about America. My question said 'in the US'

Was not aware that Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Norway and Italy were in the U.S.

I came here to post this exact thing.

Nice dodge of the question, as usual for you.
I said as much. My top five is irrelevant as I linked to a quality of life study with data that ranks all US states, so any ranking I offer beyond that study would be subjective. I am sorry if that doesn’t fit whatever narrative you are vested to.

I must admit I'm skeptical of any publication that lists Mississippi as #6 in the US for Quality of Life.

Don't act outraged when someone asks why you answered a question that wasn't asked.

That should have been a giant red flag for whoever made that. Mississippi is a disaster area.

I know. If the emojis didn’t give it away, I was having a little fun because Jersey isn’t a place that people typically equate to quality of life. To answer your question, I think New England, Minnesota and Washington are the best parts of the country to live, although Amazon has pretty much ruined Seattle.

Or N Dakota as #1. Winters are absolutely brutal.
NoDak is great if you don't mind rampant racism, wall to wall republicans and militant right to lifers. There are jobs, people for support (as long as you're white) and, frequent church dinners.

Ben's response. That interviewer definitely has the hots for him. Faux News but interesting none the less. Ben is a smart dude, very well spoken, and builds up great points. I think the left won’t admit it but they’re somewhat terrified of people like him and Jordan Peterson etc.
He may be a smart dude. Its sometimes difficult to tell the difference between smart people that experience no guilt over lying and misleading people repeatedly and people that really do just lack the intelligence to figure out when they are just making stuff up and misrepresenting information.

Have you considered that the left isn’t terrified of him so much as they think his arguments are dumb?

That’s certainly me. I’m sure I’m not alone. It’s weird that conservatives value shit talking over actually smart arguments.

They're dishonest, not dumb. He knows what he's doing. The only thing frightening about it is that his marks can't see it, the same way they couldn't recognize the utter insincerity of our current president.

Bill Maher interviewing Jordan Peterson.

I think there is a movement afoot on the right/alt-right/and most importantly the center. The internet opens the world and right leaning intellectuals like Shapiro and Peterson are becoming very popular. Trump rode inprimarily on the wave of burn the fucker down. People are sick of DC and a lot of the loony shit going on driven by the left. These speakers like Shapiro are crafting the political thought landscape much more than any politician. And if you read up the left does seem to be taking them very seriously because they do pose a threat to it. People are taking their red pill and becoming very ardent grassroots supporters of this. Honestly I think it’s laying the framework for a true third party.

Why the Left Is So Afraid of Jordan Peterson
The Canadian psychology professor’s stardom is evidence that leftism is on the decline—and deeply vulnerable.

Baw the left is terrified of the popularity of right leaning intellectuals. You may be in denial but it’s assuredly real.
