Alien Quadrilogy

Does anyone own this. I am considering buying it. I only have the first three on VHS. If you guys have it, do you think its worth $75. And I am a huge Aliens fan btw, but I mean if its just $75 for not too much, I'm not gonna just dish it out.

Depends on how much you like the movies and movie extras. Essentially you're paying the $75 (USD I assume? pretty good deal, though I've seen it around for better) for 3 director's cuts that are unavailable elsewhere and a literal boatload of extra featurettes. While I have the thing, alas I haven't had the time to so much as pop them in my player Though I'm greatly looking forward to seeing the full director's cut of #3 -- having read the novelization before seeing the movie and having the comic series, both of which include the removed footage I believe -- and seeing what else Whedon could have possibly put in #4. I've seen the extra stuff they put in #1 and am already a huge fan of the director's cut of #2. The sentry guns in that one ownz j00.

Really, it depends on how much you love the series. For me, it was one of my favourites of all time, and it pissed me off when I learned about the Quadrilogy at first because I had just managed to get my hands on all 4 of the original release DVDs. So really, it all boils down to how much you love the series. If you like it enough to want the new footage and the tons of extras, go for it. Else, you can rent parts 3 and 4 from like Blockbuster and see if they're to your liking.

oh I have seen 3 and 4. I thought 3 was really good and 4 sucked. I am a HUGE fan of the series, and will most likely buy it. I just hope I can actually sit down and watch the whole 50+ hours that they added

I've seen the special edition of aliens, but actually never got to see the director's cut of alien in theatres. i was really pissed about that

It'd be neat to have, but the only ones worth watching in my opinion are Alien and Aliens.

I own the set, just got it yesterday Alien and Aliens are by far the best. Overall it's something like an hour and 38 minutes added to all 4 movies that had been previously cut(40 minutes of which from Alien 3). I got it on sale for $58 so I'm happy with it

its 9 disc. each movie contains both the theatrical cut and a directors/add scenes cut(alien 4 the director says the directors cut was the one in the theater). And each has a bonus disc. plus some ninth disc. Its pretty awesome. I got in the deal at deepdiscount for only 58.88 shipped but that deal is done now. The first movie is supposedly the best transfer it has ever seen.

I dunno why but I like the 4th one the best. Best visuals. Everyone else hates it tho.

I think it's the plot that people find offensive.

Just got done with Alien Resurrection. Sucks more than I remember :x Haven't watched Alien yet though, saving the best for last

Finally had the chance to sit down and watch the SE's of 3 and 4. 4 isn't too bad, well, not when compared to its original format. The extras add little bits, but not a whole lot. Nice FX integration and completion at the beginning and end of the movie at least.

Frankly, I wish they had spent any money they did there on #3 instead. The extra stuff there is quite cool and does a good job of expanding on the prisoners. The whole restored part with Golic and the release/capture of the alien was excellent and what I was hoping for. Alas the audio was largely piss poor. That was really the most aggravating thing about the new scenes; while integrated flawlessly and of equal quality, the audio tracks were not totally intact and thus subtitled had to be used for some of the lines that were not picked up well. I mean, couldn't they have got some of those actors back for crying out loud? It's not like they were all that high paid in the first place. Or even voice actors that sounded similar. Really, quite annoying there. Still, it added quite well to the movie.

I haven't watched 1 or 2 yet. Really, I don't feel that much of a need as I know what's going to be in 1 and have seen that in the cut scenes and have already seen the director's cut of 2 anyway.

Still, the quadrilogy is stacking up to be quite a nice purchase for me thus far!
